Summertime at Connections — ESY & Summer Camp!
Did you know that the Connections campus continues buzzing all summer?
After the calendar school year, many of our students qualify for Extended School Year (ESY) to give them more time to work on goals identified in their Individualized Education Program (IEP). ESY runs the first two weeks of summer break.
Then, many students attend the Connections Summer Camp, a six-week program that gives students with autism a safe, engaging place to spend summer days while caregivers work. Our program is designed to reduce the regression that many students experience during school breaks, and it enables our students to maintain a routine, which is especially important to children with autism. Our camp is staffed by caring counselors who are well-trained in autism.
In addition to the activities on our campus, students enjoy supervised community outings to places like the park, bowling alley, science museum and more!
We appreciate everyone who made this year's summer camp possible, including the Women's Golf Association at PGA National that gave summer camp scholarships to 10 students who otherwise would not have been able to attend. Thank you!
