Christmas Parade: Register by Dec. 9th to Participate on Dec. 14th |
This year's City of Cumming Christmas Parade will be held on Saturday, December 14th, beginning at 5 p.m.! Any group or individual interested in being in the parade should register now. Please click here for the registration form. Completed forms must be returned to cledford@cityofcumming.net (or by U.S. Mail: Cumming City Hall, Attn: Crystal Ledford, 100 Main Street, Cumming, GA 30040) by 5 p.m. on Monday, December 9th.
The Christmas Parade begins at Forsyth Central High School and flows down Tribble Gap/Castleberry Road, ending at the Cumming Fairgrounds. Parking is available in the two downtown parking decks, at City Hall, in the Fairgrounds' lot, as well as at some of the business lots along the route. There will be no festival at the Fairgrounds following the parade.

Water Tower Lighting Request Deadline is Dec. 2nd |
The deadline to submit lighting requests for the 'Cumming Home' Water Tower at Exit 14 on Georgia Hwy. 400 is Monday, Dec. 2nd. Requests received after 5 p.m. on December 2nd will not be considered.
Non-profit and charitable organizations are invited to apply by filling out the application form and returning it to cledford@cityofcumming.net before the deadline.
Submit your requests now! The finalized 2025 lighting schedule will be posted in December.

Cumming PD Partners with Businesses for Toy Drive |
The Cumming Police Department is partnering with several local businesses and organizations for a Christmas Toy Drive to assist local families in need this holiday season.
The PD has partnered with Creative Enterprises-Forsyth, Andean Chevrolet, and both Los Rios locations (the original in Tri-County Plaza and the City Center Cantina) for the drive. The PD is asking for unwrapped toys to be dropped off at one of the partner locations before Dec. 20th. These toys will be sorted by age group by the amazing clients at Creative Enterprises-Forsyth and then distributed to families in need.
If your family or another family you know could use a little extra help this holiday season, please reach out to the Cumming Police Department at 770-781-2000.

New Sawnee Drive Extension Now Open | |
The new Sawnee Drive Extension, which connects Dahlonega Highway (Hwy. 9) to Pilgrim Mill Road opened on Nov. 8th with a small ribbon cutting ceremony. Mayor Troy Brumbalow and City Council members Joey Cochran, Chad Crane, and Susie Carr joined representatives of Foresite Group, which engineered the project, and Jasper Grading & Pipeline, which constructed the roadway, for the ribbon cutting. Sawnee Drive Extension creates a direct flow for traffic from GA Hwy. 400 Exit 15 to Hwy. 9, which can serve as a northern bypass of downtown Cumming. | |
Join CRPD for Holiday Art Classes in December |
The Cumming Recreation & Parks Department (CRPD) is offering holiday art programs this December:
Holiday Workshop for Children Ages 6-12
Date: Saturday, Dec. 7th
Time: 9:30-11:30 a.m.
Cost: $50 per student (supplies included)
Paint & Create Adult Workshop (Ages 18+)
Date: Tuesday, Dec. 10th
Time: 6-7:30 p.m.
Cost: $50 per student (supplies included)
Additionally, these art classes will be held in January; registration is open now:
Let's Make Art (Ages 7-12)
Dates: Tuesdays, Jan. 7th to 28th
Time: 4:30-6:30 p.m.
Cost: $110 per students (supplies included)
Exploring Art (Ages 12-17)
Dates: Tuesdays, Jan. 7th to 28th
Time: 6:30-8 p.m.
Cost: $110 per students (supplies included)
Need some indoor fitness activities during the cold weather? CRPD offers year-round fitness classes and All-In Passes! Fitness classes are held at the Recreation Center on Pilgrim Mill Road, and the Dobbs Creek Recreation Center offers open-court play for basketball, volleyball, and pickleball. Cumming Aquatic Center: Half-Price Family Friday |
The Cumming Aquatic Center will again offer Half-Price Family Friday in December. This special will be held on Friday, Dec. 20th from 2-6 p.m.
Come out and enjoy indoor swimming with the family at half-off the normal daily admission! This special does not apply to lessons, programs, group exercise classes, or memberships.

Mayor & City Council November Meetings Recap |
During their Regular Meeting on Nov. 19th, Mayor & City Council presented a proclamation recognizing November as National American Indian Heritage Month. Representatives of Patriots of Liberty National Society Children of the American Revolution accepted the proclamation.
City Council also took the following actions during the November Work Session and Regular Meeting:
- Approved, in a 3-0 vote with Councilmen Chad Crane and Jason Evans absent, a revised resolution strongly opposing a request from Forsyth County which would have given County Commissioners the City's consent to seek a change in state law to allow the county to take votes outside the County Seat in exchange for the County giving the City a needed Utilities easement.
- Approved, in a 3-0 vote with Councilmen Chad Crane and Jason Evans absent, a resolution giving Mayor Brumbalow authority to sign an amicus brief on behalf of the City of Cumming in support of the City of Milton in a case involving a vehicle which hit an object in the right-of-way.
- Heard a report on the 2024 Cumming Country Fair & Festival. Fairgrounds Director Tracy Helms said this year's fair was the biggest ever in the fair's 30-year history, with the last Saturday and Sunday being the two biggest single days in the event's history.
- Were presented with the City's Proposed 2025 Budget, which will be further discussed during a public hearing at the Dec. 3rd Work Session before being voted on by Council at the Dec. 17th Regular Meeting.
- Approved an agreement with Northside Hospital Forsyth with will allow the hospital to rent the Fairgrounds' Parking Lot #3 for hospital staff parking Monday-Friday while the hospital is undergoing renovations.
- Approved an alcohol license application from Chichas Indian Cafe at 911 Marketplace Blvd, Suite L.
- Approved an amendment to the City's Alcohol Ordinance to adjust the timeframe of alcohol package sales on Sundays to 11 a.m. through 11:30 p.m.
- Approved the Capital Improvements Element Resolution as required by the state Department of Community Affairs in order for the City of Cumming to maintain its Qualified Local Government status.
- Approved the proposals from Fowler Sitework for Hickory Ridge Subdivision Storm Drain Phase 2, and for the Gravitt Road Gravity Sewer Extension.

December Events at the SAA Arts Center | |
The Sawnee Association of the Arts presents the Christmas Marketplace at the Cumming Arts Center, 111 Pilgrim Mill Road, through the end of the year. The marketplace features unique, handmade artisan items, such as pottery, small paintings, jewelry, woodworking, 2025 Art Center calendars, artist-decorated 1- to 4-foot Christmas trees, and more! Shop locally and support the arts. Admission and parking are always free.
Additionally, the SAA presents the following exhibits in December:

"Wind Chill" - Season Finale: A special art exhibit by Cumming Arts Center/SAA members closes out the 2024 season. The exhibit opens Wednesday, Dec. 4th and an opening reception will be held on Saturday, Dec. 7th from noon to 3 p.m. Don't miss this creative display of talented artists!

Christmas Classic Returns to School Street Playhouse |
Ebenezer, Marley, and the ghosts of Christmas past, present and future are returning to the School Street Playhouse this holiday season.
Charles Dickens' classic tale, "A Christmas Carol," comes to life on stage from Dec. 6th through Dec. 22nd, with Thursday, Friday and Saturday shows at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday shows at 2:30 p.m.
Come out to your local, hometown theater to see this classic holiday show presented by Lisa Sherouse, who has brought such favorites as "The Producers", "Funny Money," and "Sweeney Todd" to the School Street stage.
The School Street Playhouse will also present a New Year's Eve concert featuring the Shane Brothers Band at 8 p.m. on Dec. 31st.
