Tricia Sloan Dance Center has designed a wonderful preschool program that provides children ages 3-5 years old with a strong foundation in ballet and tap dance.

Through participation in these classes, students learn the basics of classroom behavior and manners, which will remain the same as they grow through their dancing years.

These concepts include...

How to take turns

Following another dancer

Being a leader

Waiting patiently

Working with others

Having a positive attitude

"Each month has a theme
that will add interest and excitement to the class."

Children are introduced to the magic of dance that can lead to a lifelong activity.

The physical benefits of dance class are many. Motor fitness, rhythmic skills, strength, flexibility, coordination and endurance are just a few of the advantages of dance training.

Additionally concentration, respect, self-esteem, development of sensory awareness, socialization, language and body awareness are also learned.

Fitness is lifelong!!
Music and dance lay
a strong foundation
for reading and math skills.
Dance Classes Are So Important!
Children do not become coordinated or agile without a variety of movement experiences. Researchers are becoming increasingly concerned about the low level of movement in
kids and have observed that they
are being socialized to prefer less activity. Providing opportunities for locomotive activity contributes to children's fitness level.

What Do They Learn?

A typical class begins with "Circle Time" where

children prepare for class.

Ballet positions of feet and arms and gentle stretching are

taught using real ballet terminology.

This is followed by progressions across the floor, which are a

building block technique, that utilizes repetition

and practice to master the steps in ballet.

Each lesson ends with a song and dance that is perfected

over several weeks.

At the mid point in class the children change into tap shoes

and begin the tap technique lesson in the same format.

Lots of imagery and age appropriate music is used in class.

What Do They Wear?

Little girls may wear any color leotard (body suit), pink tights,

pink leather ballet slippers and tan tap shoes.

Boys may wear white tee shirt, black sweat pants or shorts.

Black ballet slippers and black tap oxfords.
