Thank You! Bring your family, friends, and neighbors.

You are warmly invited to our annual WSD Holiday Thank You Meal on Saturday, December 14 from 12-2 pm, at the West Mesa Community Center, 5500 Glendon Rd NW 87105.

WSD will provide the main dishes; you are asked to bring a side dish or dessert.

Our hard work paid off. All our West Side candidates won. And won their elections by bigger margins.

People who pay their 2025 dues of $10 will be included in a drawing for a $50 M’tucci’s gift certificate.

Our Community, Our Hope

West Side Dems is a community of people with shared values and a willingness to work for those values. We like getting together and sharing those values with one another. We like creating new friendships and strengthening old ones.

That is the hope of the West Side.

Two events will be held before the end of 2024 to broaden our friendships and strengthen our community.

First - Join your friends and neighbors to visit, to laugh and to cry together at the Bosque Brewery, 2220 Unser on November 24th from 3:00 - 5:00.

There will be no business except a drawing for a $50 gift certificate to M’tucci’s Italian restaurant. To be eligible for this drawing you must pay your dues of $10 for 2025.

I hope we can all meet, talk, and inspire each other and get ready for another successful year.

Next - We are having a Holiday Thank You Celebration on December 14^th to recognize all the work you've done this election year. The luncheon will be at West Mesa Community Center from 12:00pm to 2:00pm.

WSD will provide the main dish, while our members are asked to provide sides and desserts.

You deserve this celebration because with hard work and sacrifice you kept the West Side blue. You sent Gabe Vasquez back to Congress with almost 10,000 votes. You elected our friends and neighbors to fight for us in the New Mexico legislature.

A drawing will be held for a $50 gift certificate for M’tucci’s Italian Restaurant for people who pay their dues of $10 for 2025 at the luncheon or at our social hour on November 24th.

Thank you for all that you have done.

Check Us Out

WSD is broadening its ability to give information to our members. Here’s how:

Pages for each of our West Side legislators will be created on our website. Our representatives and senators have been asked to give us two major goals they hope to accomplish this legislative session. Their pages will, then, be used to track the progress of those goals.
A new Facebook page was started. You can now check out our site at Bernalillo County Democrats.
In addition to Facebook and our website, we will add Instagram and other social media platforms.

We hope to generate interest in Westside Dems, our goals and our accomplishments, through the addition of these tools.

What's Next

I am devastated and depressed over the election. I just want to give up and say to hell with it. Do you feel that way?

But you and I know we can't give up. We must fight for our country. And we can start right here on the West Side. Let's focus on what we can do locally.

Let's build on our successes and broaden our horizons.

Every race but one was won on the West Side. This includes the one to send Gabe Vasquez back to Congress.

Take pride in our victories! The legislators we elected are WSD members and our friends. We can help them achieve their goals. Doing so helps build our community and strengthen our relationships with one another.

We can serve the community on the West Side in nonpolitical ways, building trust in us both as Democrats and as West Side Dems.

Later in 2025 we have other elections: for school board, for city council, and for mayor. Let’s make sure we have school board members, city counselors, and a mayor who support our values. We have proven that we have the power to prevail in these elections.

So let's go forward, determined to elect candidates who will support our values and fulfill both our needs and those of our West Side neighbors.

Let's reach out to marginalized communities here on the West Side and support those who are also in pain after the election.

Let's organize so we're ready to fight and win the battle for governor, U.S. Senator, local legislative offices, and those who have contests in 2026.

Together we cannot be beaten.
