CVOEO is taking action to end poverty, build community, and create a healthier, happier, and more just future for everyone in Vermont. From addressing urgent needs to fostering long-term well-being, we're committed to making a positive impact.

This month, we reflect on a recent visit from Burlington Mayor Mulvaney-Stanak. Our staff hosted Mayor Mulvaney-Stanak at our Community Resource Center and Feeding Champlain Valley site in the Old North End, helping her gain firsthand insight into the challenges faced by our most vulnerable residents. This visit underscored the importance of our work providing essential services like food, shelter, and support.

This August, we are also thrilled to further strengthen our food security initiatives in Franklin and Grand Isle Counties, by welcoming Healthy Roots Collaborative to CVOEO. In addition, as we strive to create a more just and equitable community, we invite you to join us in supporting those in need. Whether it's attending our Tim's House Golf Classic or our vibrant Karibu Cultural Celebration, your involvement makes a difference. Consider, too, leaving a lasting legacy by supporting CVOEO in your estate planning on the occasion of National Make-A-Will Month.

Together, we will build a just future for all. Thank you for joining us!

Burlington Mayor Visits CVOEO

Discusses Homelessness and Food Insecurity

Mayor Emma Mulvaney-Stanak recently toured CVOEO’s Community Resource Center to learn about the program's work to address homelessness and food insecurity in Burlington. The center, co-located with Feeding Champlain Valley's food shelf, provides essential services such as hot meals, phone access, and benefits support to those in need. Mayor Mulvaney-Stanak also toured Feeding Champlain Valley, highlighting CVOEO's innovative approach to food access.

Paul Dragon, Executive Director of CVOEO, shares "we were excited to host the Mayor and look forward to our continued partnership to ensure that Burlington thrives. The heart of our work at CVOEO is community well-being and the belief that every person in this community is important and vital to its success. Our 10 programs focusing on both emergent needs and long-term economic independence reflect CVOEO’s whole community approach. We are so excited to be on this journey with Mayor Mulvaney-Stanak!"

August is Make-A-Will Month

Leave a lasting impact

National Make-A-Will Month serves as a reminder to take proactive steps towards securing your legacy. By creating a will, you not only protect your assets, but also provide clarity and support for your loved ones during a difficult time. Don't delay creating or updating this important document—start planning today to ensure that your wishes are honored and your family is provided for according to your desires.

You can also plan to make a meaningful contribution to the future of Vermont when you include CVOEO in your estate planning. Jon Crystal, Vergennes resident and member of CVOEO’s Board of Directors since 2011, recently made a legacy gift to CVOEO. Read Jon's reflections below.

"I continue to be impressed by the scope, scale, and depth of commitment of CVOEO and its staff to their mission in our community.

I support CVOEO annually through my volunteer work and donations. I wanted to find the best way to extend that support over time, and after some research, I decided a Charitable Gift Annuity would be the best vehicle for my family."
