Our Mission is to Serve and Equip our Churches to Fulfill the Great Commission | |
Christmas is an exciting time as we celebrate the birth of Christ. As we celebrate Christmas we should respond as the Shepherds did:
Luke 2:15-18
So it was, when the angels had gone away from them into heaven, that the shepherds said to one another, “Let us now go to Bethlehem and see this thing that has come to pass, which the Lord has made known to us.” And they came with haste and found Mary and Joseph, and the Babe lying in a manger. Now when they had seen Him, they made widely known the saying which was told them concerning this Child. And all those who heard it marveled at those things which were told them by the shepherds.
The shepherds, after they were told by the angels about the Savior being born, went quickly to see for themselves. After seeing, they started telling, witnessing, and evangelizing! They became the first human evangelists of the Good News. Angels in heaven and men on earth join heart and voice in announcing the good tidings of great joy. Others heard and marveled at what the shepherds told them. The message of Jesus will always cause a stir. The response will vary. Some will receive Him; some will reject Him. All should be confronted with Him.
I am excited for Toys for Jesus and the opportunity we have to share the Gospel with all families receiving toys. Thanks to everyone who has given, shopped, organized, prayed for, and for those who will be helping and sharing during this event. Please pray that many will make decisions for Christ and that we can get them plugged into one of our SYBA churches to be discipled.
Thanks to all who gave to, packed a book bag, donated items, went, and prayed for our mission trip to Kentucky...and a big thank you to Mary Jordan, Backpack Ministry Coordinator. We gave out over 800 backpacks in the Appalachian region. Thirty-two people accepted Christ and many seeds were planted. We have some local Appalachian churches that are following up with those who made decisions.
We are gearing up for our 'Souper' Bowl Drive for our SYBA food pantry. With increased demand, we need help keeping our shelves filled. Please pray about giving financially or donating food. Our goal at the food pantry is to meet needs and to share Christ. One week we had nine people make decisions for Christ!
We need to be sharing Christ all year round, but we have an excellent opportunity this Christmas. Invite your coworkers, your family, and your friends to the special services that your church is having this Christmas season. Do you know why most people don’t come to church? It is because they have not been invited! Pray about who you are going to share with and who you are going to invite... and then do it!
