Campaign Sign Guidelines for Election Season
|
As election season is upon us, residents and property owners are reminded to follow guidelines for posting campaign signs. Signs may not be placed in the City’s right of way, including streets, sidewalks, bike lanes, or other public spaces, and must not block sightlines or create safety hazards. Beaches, bluffs, wetlands, and city-owned properties, like parks, are off-limits. Additionally, signs cannot be affixed to utility poles, streetlights, trees, or traffic signposts. In residential zones, temporary signs must not exceed 5 square feet. Please respect others and do not remove signs from private property without property owner authorization (it is illegal to do so), and remember to remove all campaign signs within 10 days after the election. Get out and vote on Tuesday, November 5th!
Annual Citywide Street Repair Project has Begun!
|
The City’s Annual Pavement Rehabilitation Project is currently underway! This year’s work includes pavement resurfacing, replacing deteriorated cross gutters and sidewalks, upgrading pedestrian ramps to current standards, localized pavement repairs, repainting faded traffic striping, and replacing damaged sidewalks throughout the City. The cross gutter replacements are completed and concrete repairs are still in progress. Asphalt repairs and resurfacing are scheduled to begin next Monday, October 14th. A map of all repair areas can be found here. Please exercise caution and stay alert for construction traffic and detour signs when traveling through these areas. Electronic message boards will be placed to provide updates throughout the project.
Highlights From Coastal Cleanup Day |
The City hosted a Coastal Cleanup Day site at Fletcher Cove Beach on Saturday, September 21st. A big thank you to all the volunteers who joined us early Saturday morning and helped collect over 30 pounds of litter from the beach! In total, 27.8 pounds of trash and 3 pounds of recycling were collected. The most common item found was nails (over 300 collected), which were left behind in the sand from bonfires. The second most common pieces of litter were small plastic fragments and food wrappers, with 139 pieces collected.
As a reminder, burning pallets or any wood containing nails, screws, bolts, or other hardware is strictly prohibited, as is disposing of burnt materials in the sand (pack-in, pack-out policy applies). All beach fires must be contained in City-approved fire devices with a solid metal bottom and sides to fully enclose the fire and burnt material. This helps prevent nails and other debris from posing a safety hazard to our community and wildlife.

|
During the month of October, the City of Solana Beach is excited to partner, once again, with the North County Food Bank for their Scare Away Hunger Peanut Butter Drive. Why Peanut Butter? For families or individuals facing hunger, it’s not just about filling plates—it’s about providing nutritious, protein-rich food that fuels growing children and provides a healthy, sustaining source of energy to get you through the day. Peanut butter is not only packed with protein, but it’s also shelf-stable, kid-friendly, and versatile—just one jar can make over 12 sandwiches. Help us provide nutritious food to families and individuals in need with your donation of unopened peanut butter jars. You can either drop off donations at City Hall or contribute securely online through the Virtual Food Drive platform.
