A Note from Mrs. Bushey

Dear Families,

Thank you to all our PTO Officers and parents for your incredible efforts in making the Homecoming Parade and tailgate such a wonderful event! It’s a fantastic opportunity for our community to come together, make new friends, and reconnect with familiar faces. It’s one of my favorite nights, and I truly love seeing parents and students enjoying time together outside of the school day. Here’s to more fun events like this in the future!

I want to share with you that our prayers have been answered (remember it's in God's time, not our time!) I want to welcome Julia Schlusler to our staff! She will be teaching 5-6-7-8 Math classes! We will be making some shifts in the schedule beginning 2nd quarter/October 21. Please stay tuned for those changes. I'll send a letter out as soon as all of the details are firmed up! In the meantime, here is a little bit about her:

My name is Julia Schlusler and I am excited to join the staff and to be the middle school math teacher at St Robert!

I received my bachelors in Elementary Education from Olivet Nazarene University and my Masters in Educational Leadership from Arkansas State. Also, I am fully trained as a Math Recovery Specialist. For my first 6 years, I was a classroom teacher, teaching grades 3rd-8th. Then, I was a math consultant for 6 years. For the past few years, I’ve been a full-time mom. My husband, Adam, and I have been married for 14 years and have four sweet kiddos - Keegan (6th), Kason (4th), Kannon (K) and Kallan (P3) who are all at SRS. They keep us super busy between soccer games, hockey games, and lacrosse.

Math is my passion and I look forward to helping your middle schooler fall in love with math, too! If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to reach out! I am so excited to be a part of the St Robert family!!

Welcome aboard, Julia! Thank you for saying YES!

God Bless,

Sarah

CONGRATULATIONS FR. BRIAN!

A Note from Bishop Boyea -- Good luck and God bless to Father Brian Lenz - pictured below amidst his family - upon his installation last week as pastor of Saint Robert Bellarmine in Flushing and Good Shepherd in Montrose. Here's to the start of great things!

BOOK FAIR

PICTURE RETAKE DAY

Closed eyes? Glare? No smile? Absent? Picture retakes will take place on Thursday, October 10. Dress code for retake day is the same as it was for picture day.

THANK YOU!

  • Thank you to everyone who participated in last week’s Casual Day for a Cause. We collected $145.00. The money will be donated to Catholic Charities.
  • Thank you to Julia Schlusler and Erika Spaleny for volunteering on Picture Day! You helped make the process smooth and easy.

JEANS & PINK SHIRT DAY

Friday, October 11 will be a Jeans Day and Pink Shirt Day. Collars do not have to be worn, but the shirts must be school appropriate. The cost to wear jeans, a pink shirt or both is $1.00. All proceeds from the pink shirt and jeans day will be donated to the John Paul II Medical Research Institute to be used for breast cancer research.

HALLOWEEN

We’re excited to welcome parents to join us for Halloween classroom activities! While not all classrooms will have parties, each will have special activities, including dressing up. If you plan to participate in the classroom on Halloween (or any other day), it’s important that you complete the volunteer packet that was sent home a few weeks ago. To be with students for Halloween activities, all parents must be 'vetted,' and the required paperwork must be submitted by October 23. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation!

BUECHE'S CASH FOR KIDS

The Bueche’s Cash for Kids program has started back up for the 24/25 school year. Bueche’s donates money to St. Robert School for every receipt that we collect. Look for the “Kids 2025” total to appear at the end of your Bueche’s receipt. Bueche’s boxes are located in the school, in the parish office and in the church.

PARISH NEWS

  • Back from the Dead Cemetery Walk is an exciting Catholic experience that helps us enter into the Triduum of All Hallows Eve, All Saints, and All Souls! You will encounter actors from our parish playing saints and sinners along the walk in the cemetery. The Knights of Columbus will provide shuttles from the church to the cemetery and will provide apple cider and yummy fall treats. If you have any questions, please contact Hannah Marconeri at (810) 659-8556 / hturchi@strobertschool.com.
  • Marty Rymarz is stepping away from his ministerial role at St. Robert as OCIA and Liturgy coordinator due to his intense work schedule with General Motors. We are so grateful for all the work he has done and for all the ways he has built up the Kingdom of God in this role in our community. He has been a wonderful gift to our parish! We will continue to pray for him as he leaves this role. God bless you and keep you, Marty!
  • St. Robert Bellarmine is now accepting applications for a Coordinator of Liturgy and OCIA. This position is part-time at 19 hours per week. Interested candidates should review the job posting located at the church website and complete the online application. Please submit a resume and cover letter. This position assists the pastor, as a part of a staff team, in the fulfillment of his ministry to make disciples by overseeing the preparation of all parish liturgies, directing OCIA at the parish, and those evangelization and faith formation needs most immediately tied to these parish ministries. This position reports to the Director of Discipleship and works closely with the Religious Education Office and our deacon. The role requires an individual who is a missionary disciple and a practicing Catholic in good standing with the Church and fully committed to Catholic moral teaching and tradition. Experience in parish ministry or teaching of the Catholic faith is preferred. Experience in coordinating volunteers is helpful.
