Special Note

Unfortunately, COVID-19 is still alive and well. There have been a few cases of COVID among folks involved with Maplewood UMC activities. This is a general reminder to encourage all of us to remember to engage in good health and hygiene habits: Get plenty of rest. Drink lots of fluids. Wash your hands frequently. Cover your coughs and sneezes. If you have COVID symptoms be sure to test.  If you are feeling sick or have a fever, of course you will be missed, but please stay home. Always keep in mind, wearing a mask when you are indoors with other people is a precaution you can take at any time to help protect you and those around you.

Join Adult Conversations Group

The group meets at 9:45 a.m. on Sundays will be reading and discussing Barbara Brown Taylor’s An Altar in the World. Didn’t get a chance to read it earlier in the spring? Want to do it again? Join us! Books are available in the narthex (or will be Sunday!)

June Community Unity Dinner a huge success!!

Can you believe this amazing evening was our one year anniversary of the Community Unity Center!!! Thank you Rebekah Simon-Peter, for your amazing, challenging program, Creating a Culture of Renewal!!! Thank you Pastor Kim, for enrolling us in "CCR". If not, we would never have created this community center! 95 people attended tonight, including Pastor Kim who is retiring and our new pastor Andy Bryan and his family. But the highlight of the evening was Melelani Perry dancing her award winning dance routine from the Missouri Miss Amazing Pageant! The Spirit was alive and well at Maplewood United Methodist Church! Such a great night!!!!

Dear Friends,

Thank you so much for a wonderful farewell service and lunch! Thank you for being part of worship and for staying for lunch! It was a gift to be together. A special thank you to the Administrative Council, especially the Staff-Parish team members who took care of all of the arrangements for lunch.

I am truly grateful for the time we have had to serve together in ministry for the past 16 years. It has been a privilege to be part of your lives and to see God work in and through this amazing congregation who must never be underestimated because of the number of people or the size of the budget. God has worked through your willingness to step out with big faith to bless many people in the local community and beyond. I am so proud to have been your pastor.

As I said in the message last week, I will be in worship for the last time, this coming Sunday before I step into retirement. While I can't help but be sad, this Sunday will be joy-filled as four youth confirm their faith in Jesus Christ. Your new pastor, Rev Andy will worship with us and will take part in the confirmation service.

As you continue in ministry with Pastor Andy, I am confident that God will continue to work in and through you. You will be blessed to be a blessing in ways we have yet to imagine.

The grace and peace of Christ be with you every step of the journey.

Love in Christ,

Pastor Kim

Snacks needed for Freedom School & Kids Club

It's Freedom School time and we are asking the congregation to consider donating snacks for the kids for Freedom School and our after hours Kid's Club. Here is a long and fun list of foods that she is suggesting for her "snack buffet". Thank you for considering donating food or monies towards snacks!

(The list of suggested snacks is too long to put here. The categories are:

Shelly McBurnett still needs help with her homework! By sharing a dinner for McBurnett’s on a Wednesday, you give her needed time.

We are very proud of Shelly, who is about 8 weeks away from completing her BS to BSN program at the Goldfarb School of Nursing as a single parent of three delightful children!

MUMC Kids

Last Sunday the children learned all about the light that they bring into others lives and how to keep that light shining in their daily lives. They learned the song, "This Little Light of Mine" and made a necklace to show how their light can shine and reflect onto others.

Join us this Sunday as we decorate wind chimes!
