Welcome to fall, and the BCCSA’s biggest event
The 2024 BCCSA Construction Health and Safety Conference
The BCCSA’s signature event, the 2024 BC Construction Health and Safety Conference, will be held on October 24th and 25th at the Pinnacle Harbourfront Hotel in Vancouver. We’re ready for attendees from across the province with an exciting schedule of presentations and a sold-out trade show.
Following the conference, we’d like to remind attendees that they can claim 5 points for Continuing Professional Development (CPD), as approved by BC Housing Licensing and Consumer Services.
You can still register for the conference here!
Recovery Informed Workplaces
Recently, we’ve been promoting the opportunities offered by Recovery Informed Workplaces — work environments that support a journey of worker recovery by destigmatizing mental health and dependency issues.
The BCCSA has hosted two free events on the subject, the first in June in Vancouver, and the second in Victoria in September — both reporting strong engagement from contractors. The free sessions featured Dr. Paul Farnan of the University of British Columbia and Simon Fraser University, who shared insights into ways in which workplaces can become catalysts for positive change and healing. They also included Ian Robb, Chairman, Building Trades of Alberta, who outlined the organization’s unique Building Resiliency Program, which leverages workplace support to address mental health, addiction and dependency challenges.
These sessions have proved so popular that we’ve scheduled two repeat engagements.
If you’re located near Prince George, the Recovery Informed Workplaces event will be coming to the Courtyard Marriott Prince George on October 2nd. You can register here for free.
We’ll also feature these speakers in Kelowna at the Eldorado Resort on November 6th. Register here for this engagement.
If you can’t make it to either of these events, we believe it will be worth your while to watch a recording of the Vancouver session here!

We’re taking a deep dive into BC 1 Call, the province-wide service that helps contractors avoid disturbing or damaging underground utilities. Learn more here.
Until next month.
As always, we welcome your feedback!
