This is the SHIFT edition of CIWO's Newsletter. Seeding Holistic Innovation For Transformation (SHIFT) is where leaders & organizations can seed their innovative solutions at CIWO. We provide support (programmatic, administrative, financial) to cutting-edge ideas for social, racial, immigrant, gender, and worker justice movements.
Learn more about SHIFT principles & past projects here.
This month (and others) CIWO is spotlighting Latina/Latiné leaders during Hispanic Heritage Month (September 15 - October 15); Filipino leaders and organizations during Filipino American History Month (October); Disabled Labor Leaders during Disability Employment Awareness Month (October); & Indigenous, Tribal, & First Nations leaders ahead of Indigenous People's Day (October 14). Providing space for leaders to think, strategize, dream, and feel whole is part of CIWO's mission and we encourage everyone to learn more about these leaders, organizations that they lead, and stories about the importance of heritage month celebrations via CIWO socials & upcoming events listed below.

CIWO has a practice of Labor + Land acknowledgement, in order to amplify and learn from the legacy of stolen people+land and extracted labor+land that continues to harm Black people, Brown people, and immigrants and refugees from around the globe. Our center is learning to move from acknowledgement to SOLIDARITY with indigenous communities.
With Indigenous Peoples’ Day and Native American Heritage Month approaching, we encourage you to join us in learning more about indigenous-led campaigns, events and leaders in our movement.
One action to shift from acknowledgement to solidarity: get to know Indigenous, First Nations, and Tribal members in your organization or union and support local efforts of tribal and indigenous communities!
