This week, we are excited to feature Dr. Dipra Jha, a distinguished member of our Academic Advisory Committee (AAC). Dr. Jha is the Associate Dean for Equity and Inclusion – Inclusive Pedagogy at Washington State University’s Carson College of Business. A renowned expert in luxury hospitality and tourism strategy, he currently serves on the Board of Directors of State of Washington Tourism. His expertise has earned him recognition in 2023 as one of the "100 Most Influential People in USA Hospitality & Travel" by the International Hospitality Institute.
With a global perspective and a commitment to innovation, Dr. Jha is a multi-award-winning educator and thought leader. Among his many accolades are the John Wiley & Sons Innovation in Teaching Award from the International Council on Hotel, Restaurant, and Institutional Education (ICHRIE), the Excellence in Diversity and Inclusion Award from Western Federation CHRIE, and the WSU President's Award for Leadership. His remarkable career includes a Fulbright Specialist assignment in Vietnam, a prestigious and highly competitive program administered by the U.S. Department of State.
At Washington State University, Dr. Jha teaches both undergraduate and graduate students, including participants in the university’s highly-ranked Executive MBA and Online MBA programs. He has also been awarded the Samuel H. and Patricia W. Smith Teaching and Learning Grant for his work in improving undergraduate education. His influence extends well beyond the classroom, as he collaborates with governments, private organizations, and communities around the world on various research, training, and outreach projects. He has worked with international luxury brands such as Jumeirah Group, FIVE Hotels and Resorts in Dubai, and Oberoi Hotels and Leela Palaces, Hotels and Resorts in India.
Dr. Jha is a strong advocate for experiential learning and global education, leading study abroad programs and promoting cross-cultural understanding. His innovative approach to virtual exchange earned him the rare honor of Doctor Honoris Causa from Sumy State University in Ukraine.
As an integral part of Hospitality Internships’ Academic Advisory Committee**\\, Dr. Jha brings his global stature and industry connections to several key roles, including co-chairing the Global Events Committee, the Industry Partnerships and Internships Standards Committee, and the Advisory Committees Strategy Group. His dedication to fostering strong industry-academic partnerships makes him a natural leader in our mission.
