Ruth Ann Schultz - Volunteer

Ruth Ann Schultz Has been a volunteer for YTNR for nearly 20 years. She lives in East Tennessee and not far from the University of Tennessee so she has been one of our go to gals when we get rescues with medical problems she takes them back and forth for their surgeries and medical needs.

Thank you Ruth Ann for all of your help with so many of our little rescue pups for so many years. You are very special to us and we love you.

Rainbow Bridge -Athena Maria

My heart is broken, I was hoping this day would never come and that she would somehow magically live forever, but alas she didn't and it's hard to believe that she's gone. She saved me when my lifelong friend Maria Cokkinos suddenly passed away way too soon. A friend gifted me this little puppy and suggested I give her a name that would honor our friendship. That's where Athena Maria Aphrodite, the goddess of wisdom and love was born in my heart. Maria was all those things and more and I was able to heal from that loss with the help of this tiny little dog.
She qualified as a service dog and she traveled everywhere with me, she inspired my efforts as well as my adventures. She served as an Ambassador for Yorkshire Terrier National Rescue and helped us find homes and raise money to pay for all the medical expenses that came with some of them. She traveled beside me from coast to coast. She danced at our Yorkie Balls and attended Kennedy Honors celebrations. Paul McCartney kissed her as he was saying good bye at one of them, she was a love at first sight creature and she had this special gift of spreading love and inspiring life's situations.
Thank you to all of you who loved and supported her efforts. I will miss her forever. love ...

Looking for a forever home

Toby is a snuggle puppy, there is nothing he would rather do than lie on his back in your lap and have you give him belly rubs. He is a Yorkie mix, his mother's owner passed away and she was put outside to fend for herself. she was bred by a neighbors dog and she had 4 puppies under a canoe in the back yard. Toby is a big boy he weighs 20 pounds at six months old. He has the most friendly attitude and will make a great companion puppy. He's neutered and up to date with all his immunizations and is microchipped. YorkieRescue.com for an application/.

Did You Know....

A few fun facts about Yorkie's

Yorkie's are Hypoallergenic dogs, their coats are different from many other breeds of dogs Instead of fur they have hair, this helps reduce the amount of dander they shed. Dander is a common cause of allergy's. Many people with allergies find they can enjoy having a Yorkie without major issues. This makes them special companions for those who love dogs but have been allergic to other breeds.

Yorkie's require regular grooming, their coats need to be brushed and trimmed. Keeping their hair clean and tidy helps to minimize allergens even further.

Tune in next month for more of "Did You Know" From Dan
