Welcome to The Long Island Seafood Cuisine Trail Application

Cornell Cooperative Extension Marine Program, in collaboration with New York State Department of Agriculture and Markets, is developing two Seafood Cuisine Trails on the North and South shores of Long Island. These trails will highlight restaurants, fish markets, and farmers markets that prioritize providing locally-harvested seafood. On Long Island, we are surrounded by some of the freshest, most delicious, and sustainable seafood available! This initiative is designed to drive business and tourism to locations elevating Long Island seafood. If you are interested in being considered for the Long Island Seafood Cuisine Trails, please complete the attached questionnaire. This is a unique opportunity to get your seafood business noticed!

For the purposes of this application, local seafood is defined as seafood (fish and shellfish) harvested from Mid-Atlantic/New England waters and landed in a New York port/dock by New York permitted fishermen or grown by local New York oyster and/or kelp growers.

*Please note, the trail is limited in terms of number and exact geographic distribution of stops.*

A thorough review of the questionnaire and criteria will be conducted to determine which businesses are eligible to be added to the Trail. A full application and interview will be required prior to acceptance. Proof of permits and purchase of local product may be required in order to be eligible for inclusion on the Trail.

What you will need for the final application:
- Copies of your menu(s) featuring local seafood.
- A list of local businesses from which you procure your local seafood ingredients or stock, including your own wild harvest and/or aquaculture business.
- A written letter of support demonstrating your interest and willingness to participate in the trail designation.
