PGA OF BC AWARDS NOMINATIONS ARE NOW OPEN
The PGA of BC is proud to announce that the nomination period for 2024 Awards is now open!
Members and the golfing public can nominate those in the Association to be honoured at the Association's Awards Celebration, taking place October 29 at the River Rock Casino Resort. The nomination period opened September 14 and will remain open for two weeks, closing on Saturday, September 28. Member-at-large voting for the provincial award winners will open on Tuesday, October 8 and close on Tuesday, October 15. We saw increased participation in last year's nominations, and look forward to seeing even more in 2024!
To fill out the nomination form, please click here.
Full information and criteria for each award can be found on the PGA of BC Awards Program page; please click the links on the page for each individual award for more detailed guidelines.
The PGA of British Columbia Awards are presented each fall. These honours recognize the individuals and golf facilities that serve as leaders in our Association. Acknowledging and honouring them helps elevate the profile of every PGA of BC member in the eyes of the public.
More than a dozen award recipients are named each year, with 11 of those awards dependent on peer nomination. These nominations are then considered by four regional nominating committees, which determine Regional Award Recipients in each category that are put forward as finalists for the provincial award.
Our provincial award winners are then determined by a member-at-large vote, with a final Awards Committee ratifying the results, and/or breaking any ties. If eligible, provincial recipients are also put forward as British Columbia's nominee for corresponding National Awards presented by the PGA of Canada.
Thank you in advance for your nominations submission. For all inquiries, please contact Business Development Manager Dan Czerwenka at dan@pgabc.org.

Wes Heffernan came back from eight shots off the lead to win the 2024 PGA Assistants' Championship of Canada presented by Callaway Golf, shooting a final round 62 (-9) to claim his second career title in the event. The Assistants' Championship was held at Langley's Redwoods Golf Club September 12-14.
The Dynamic Motion Golf Performance Centre and PGA of Alberta Professional fired rounds of 71 and 68 to open the tournament. Following the second round, Heffernan sat eight strokes back of the lead. Against insurmountable odds, Heffernan shot the Championship's overall low round with his Saturday 62, erasing the deficit for a one-shot victory. His final round included eight birdies and an eagle.
Seven PGA of BC professionals earned a place among the top-12 competitors. Maxwell Cohen (Langley Golf Centre) paced all BC pros, earning a T2 result with a total score of -11. In solo fourth, Beon Yeong Lee (Scratch Indoor Golf & Academy) finished at 10-under. Zac Carson (Nicklaus North Golf Course) closed the tournament at -8 for a T5 result, while Clark MacPherson (Point Grey Golf & Country Club), Luke Bogdan (Cheam Mountain Golf Course), Matthew Daniel (Savage Creek Golf Club) and Alex Webber (Musqueam Golf & Learning Academy) tied for eighth place.

PGA OF BC ZONE TEAM WINS INTER-ZONE CHAMPIONSHIP AT PGA ASSISTANTS' CHAMPIONSHIP OF CANADA

The PGA of BC Zone Team emerged victorious in the Inter-Zone Championship held during Rounds One and Two of last week's PGA Assistants' Championship of Canada held at The Redwoods Golf Club.
Zone teams were comprised of four Assistant Professionals competing in the event. The three low scores among the four teammates each round counted towards the Inter-Zone Championship.
The PGA of BC was represented in the Inter-Zone Championship by Steven Lecuyer (Seymour Creek Golf Centre), Doug Morgan (Richmond Country Club), Nate Ollis (Cordova Bay Golf Course) and John Shin (Northview Golf & Country Club). With an opening round cumulative score of -11, the team jumped out to an early five-shot lead in the competition. Their second round cumulative score of +3 to finish at 8-under overall was enough to secure the wire-to-wire, four-stroke victory.
The PGA of BC Zone Team was not only the most skilled team of the week, but also the best dressed in their Nike Golf team uniforms. The Association thanks Nike Golf and Mint Green Group for their support of these competitors.
Congratulations to the PGA of BC Zone Team on their great win!

VIRTUAL EDUCATION SERIES PRESENTED BY FORESIGHT SPORTS WITH ADIDAS CANADA VP RETAIL LESLEY HAWKINS
Lesley Hawkins, Vice President Retail for adidas Canada, joined our members yesterday morning for an informative and illuminating presentation on how retail business can adapt in 2025 to respond to the changing marketplace.
Hawkins' presentation explored unique consumer groups and what their habits and expectations are in the retail world. As the ways in which consumers shop continuously evolve, Hawkins stressed the importance of integrating these new priorities into your retail operation. Sustainability, personalization and digital integration were all highlighted as recent trends that have changed the traditional retail experience. For example, Hawkins pointed to a consumer's ability to scan an item at IKEA and view how it will look in their living room as a successful and innovative strategy that both personalizes the consumer's experience and integrates technology.
The PGA of BC thanks Hawkins for sharing her wisdom and expert insights with attendees. The Association is grateful to Foresight Sports Canada for their generous support of the Virtual Education Series.
