Florida Hispanic American Chamber of Commerce Celebrates Excellence of District Students and Teachers at Annual Awards Ceremony

On September 25, the Florida Hispanic American Chamber of Commerce (FHACC) held its annual Hispanic Heritage Awards Celebration, honoring eight exceptional students and two teachers from the District with awards and scholarships.

Orange Bowl Committee Upgrades School Media Center

The Orange Bowl Committee, a nonprofit sports organization, revealed a newly redesigned media center to teachers and students at K.E. Cunningham / Canal Point Elementary. The makeover project transformed an old school library into a welcoming learning environment including new computer stations, tables, chairs, and comfortable seating areas for reading and studying.

There's a Shark Football Frenzy Happening Every Friday Night in Boca Raton

There's a special mentoring tradition in its second year at Spanish River High School called "Adopt a Shark." In this program, football players get matched up with a school staff member who becomes a mentor to them throughout the season. Dr. Lisa Harrison, SRHS Testing Coordinator and fellow "Shark Mom," says athletes' grades and morale have noticeably increased, which has created a stronger school community.

Superintendent Burke, a 26-year Employee of the District, Received a Total Average Score of 5 out of 5

Now in his fourth year as the School District of Palm Beach County's Superintendent, Mike Burke received a near-perfect score for his annual evaluation. In the evaluation, School Board Members thanked him for restoring Palm Beach County's "A" rating and reflected on the steady hand he has brought to District leadership and schools.

Join Us This Evening, Monday, September 30 for a Community Meeting on New School Start and End Times

A new state law passed requires middle schools to begin no earlier than 8:00 a.m. and high schools must begin no earlier than 8:30 a.m.


You're invited to attend the upcoming meetings which will take place on Monday, September 30 at Atlantic Community High School and Monday, October 7 at Park Vista High School from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m.
