Just Released! Promoting Intergenerational Teaching and Learning in Higher Education: A Michigan Initiative | What is the role of higher education institutions in preparing students to live and work in an aging society? How can we create reciprocal, mutually beneficial learning experiences for students and older adults? With support from the Michigan Health Endowment Fund, Generations United created this new report that provides a framework for intergenerational teaching and learning, highlights examples of current practices in Michigan, and identifies challenges, promising practices, and opportunities for deepening and expanding intergenerational learning. Dance Exchange
Dance Exchange, founded in 1976, is a non-profit dance organization based in Takoma Park, Maryland that is committed to dancemaking and creative practices that engage individuals and communities of all ages and backgrounds to cultivate a deeper understanding of themselves and the world. Collaborating across generations, disciplines, and communities, it uses dancemaking as a means for dialogue, a source of critical reflection, and a creative engine for thought and action. Intergenerational Community Planning & Placemaking Symposium
Join us on July 10 in Lancaster PA, for this 1-day symposium, hosted as a stand-alone pre-conference for the 2024 Mid-Atlantic Intergenerational Conference. This session features The American Planning Association 2023 report "Intergenerational Community Planning” designed for planners, architects, municipal staff, and community-based organizations that cut across disciplines focused on education, health, and human services. The day includes presentations by the report’s co-authors, a case study about the City of Lancaster, PA integrating the intergenerational lens into its Comprehensive Plan, and updates on the Generations United Intergenerational Housing Blueprint.
