The late summer heat we've experienced over the past two weeks makes winter seem like a distant thought. However, all signs indicate we're heading into a La Niña pattern this fall and winter, which typically brings colder and wetter conditions to the Northwest. Historically, these winters result in more cold, snow, and ice.
While the Seattle area has been relatively spared in recent winters, Portland faced significant snowfall and ice this past January, following a record snowstorm in February 2023. It's been several years since Seattle has experienced a severe winter storm, so with the La Niña forecast, we might be overdue for one. We're already preparing to protect the landscapes and properties we serve.
