Here's some hot tips for great Burgundy drinking at all price points.

We are often asked for recommendations as we have so many different Burgundies available.

So for those who have asked, and those simply interested, today we feature 12 wines that we love and would be great additions to an cellar.

There is everything from some Villages gems to great Grand Crus. All have one thing in common - they stand out from the crowd.

Capitain-Gagnerot Echezeaux En Orveaux label

Capitain-Gagnerot Echezeaux En Orveaux Grand Cru 2020

Normally $578.00

Special $490.00

4 bottles available

Jasper Morris MW

A plot from En Orveaux bought by Pierre-François’s grandfather in 1997/8. Deep purple. The nose is very hedonistic, the darkest of raspberries with a slight cherry tone alongside. Properly mouthfilling with some balanced tannins and a little crisp acidity. Quite closed today but the aftertaste indicates the future potential. 92-95 Points

Collet Valmur label

Domaine Collet Chablis Valmur Grand Cru 2020

Normally $171.50

Special $145.50

18 bottles available

Tim Atkin MW

These vines are on the cooler, southern side of Valmur, so it's no surprise the fruit is bright and tangy. Pomelo, yuzu and lemon curd take center stage. Toasted almonds add nuance on the palate. There's lilting spice on the finish along with a bit of bustling tannin to add further crunch. 2023-32. 94 Points

Bill Nanson, Burgundy Report

A more vibrant nose and certainly with less oak showing. More direct, lithe muscle, extra mouth-watering and with a growing crescendo of flavour. This is easily the most attractive of these two wines today – I expect them much closer together in a few years. But concentrated, wide, and delicious – hardly showing oak – at least not following the last. That’s a very excellent grand cru.

Millot Barre label

Domaine Bernard Millot Meursault En la Barre 2021

Normally $158.95

Special $134.95

12 bottles available

Lying on the north east side of the town is the vineyard Meursault En la Barre. The “La Barre” vineyards are best known from Domaine Comte Lafon’s Meursault Clos de la Barre. This monopole lies over the wall from En la Barre. En la Barre produces mineral wines due to the limestone bedrock that lies below very thin top soil. The wines are tense and vibrant and lip smackingly good. A favourite amongst those "in the know".

Buffet Clos des Chenes label new

Domaine Francois Buffet Volnay 1er Cru Clos des Chenes 2022

Normally $199.50

Special $169.50

33 bottles available

Charles Curtis MW, Decanter

Buffet owns three parcels in the Clos des Chênes that total nearly a hectare. Two are on the relatively flat part, and one is on the slope. Marc-Olivier Buffet ferments one-third of the grapes as whole clusters to produce this balanced, elegant wine with a winning aroma of wild strawberries, violets, and spice. The texture is fresh and lively with acidity; there is enough tannin to drive this to a lingering finish. With the Taillepieds, this is among the best of the Volnays from this address. (Drink between 2025-2050). 95 Points

Coudray-Bizot Cazetiers label

Domaine Coudray-Bizot Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru Les Cazetiers 2017

Normally $299.95

Special $254.95 a bottle

9 bottles available

After Clos St Jacques, Les Cazetiers is considered by many to be the most interesting vineyard of this Cote producing fine, elegant wines that age extremely well. Jasper Morris MW says "Cazetiers gives a feeling of refinement and precision which has an intellectual appeal as well as being vinously satisfying".

Darren Harris

The darkest of the 2017’s. Complex, spicy nose of small black and red fruits with crushed minerally rock and a little liquorice in the background. Fresh, poised, focused, very aromatic and refined for Gevrey-Chambertin. The stony soil adding a beam of acidity. There’s a sense of restrained power but no undue weight or extraction. Just purity and an expression of this great terroir. 2017 is a classic vintage and that, combined with the domaine’s winemaking style, make this a tremendous bottle.

Frantin Malconsorts label hi

Domaine du Clos Frantin Vosne-Romanee 1er Cru Les Malconsorts 2020

Normally $560.00

Special $476.00 a bottle

7 bottles available

Charles Curtis, Decanter

The wine shows a pronounced aroma of ripe black cherry and floral notes the winemaker describes as peony, mingled with notes of mineral, spice and smoke. Initially somewhat reserved on the palate, the texture is silky and with time reveals substantial but fine-grained tannins, good freshness and impressive length. Bichot owns two parcels of Malconsorts that total 1.75ha at the southern extremity of the lieu-dit bordering Nuits. Picking began on the 31st August, right after the first small shower that refreshed the vines. (Drink between 2025-2060). 96 Points

International Wine Challenge 2022

Dark plum with a hint of violet and toasted oak. Smoky clove with raspberry and blueberry. Caressing tannins and a lingering finish. 95 Points and Gold Medal

Tim Atkin MW

A generous 1.75 hectares of this coveted Premier Cru are in the hands of Bichot, which is its largest landowner. Romanée-Conti and Richebourg are neighboring vineyards. As one would suspect, this is sheer class and very, very moreish. The nose starts with spicy oak, bramble and black cherries. The fruit-filled palate is framed by soaring freshness and suave, powdery tannins. 2023-38. 95 Points

James Suckling

Striking nose, with delicate herbal notes, as well as great sour-cherry fruit. Suave and succulent, this flows over the palate in a great arc, in spite of the firm core. Very long and classically elegant finish. From organically grown grapes. Drinkable now, but best from 2024. 95 Points

Chevillon-chezeaux les st georges label

Domaine Chevillon-Chezeaux Nuits-St-Georges 1er Cru Les Saint-Georges 2020

Normally $288.95

Special $245.50 a bottle

16 bottles available

Jasper Morris states “Les St-Georges is the fullest and richest of the Nuits premier cru wines.” It typically commands the highest price of the Nuits vineyards. The owners of the vineyard have applied for elevation to Grand Cru status.

Darren Harris

Vibrant, glowing deep red. Minerals galore upon opening. Tight. Crunchy black cherry, crushed quartz, bramble, smoke, liquorice, white pepper, ground coriander, thyme, dark chocolate. A floral note develops after a few minutes. This is a wine that each time you inhale you find something new.

The palate is silky and long, long, long. There's fine grained tannin suggesting this is a wine for long ageing, if you are not tempted to drink the wine young. Balance and structure are keywords.

Should Les St-Georges be Grand Cru? This certainly rivals or exceeds some of the Grand Crus scattered across Burgundy. The quality is in the bottle, not on the label.

Chateau Meursault Volnay label

Chateau de Meursault Volnay 1er Cru Clos des Chenes 2020

Normally $220.00

Special $197.95

25 bottles available

45 year old vines from cool marne white clay soils at the top of the slope, all destemmed, cold soak then 18 months in 1/3 new barriques. Bramble and dark berry fruit with strong minerality and portion of small millerande berries resulting in a dark and intense wine with longevity.

The World of Fine Wine

Upright and a tad haughty on the nose. It sweeps away on the palate, supple at first, but quickly the tension, bite, and stony grip come to the fore. Gunflint and a cold clack. Really rather strict. Elegance and power combine. 2027–35+. 95-96 Points

Castagnier Denis label new

Domaine Jerome Castagnier Charmes-Chambertin Grand Cru 2020

Normally $499.95

Special $425.00

7 bottles available

Jasper Morris MW

Rich deep purple with a dark centre. The bouquet is joyous, ripe of course but not overdone. Explosion of rich ripe raspberry fruit. Some of those sun-dried cherries. Plenty of acidity, a few tannins, this is an exuberant success, Castagnier style. 93-95 Points

Bettane + Desseauve

95 Points

Lignier Hubert Griotte label

Domaine Hubert Lignier Griotte-Chambertin Grand Cru 2018

Normally $895.00

Special $760.00

7 bottles available

Griotte-Chambertin is the smallest of the Gevrey Grand Crus. Jasper Morris says "The wines of Griotte-Chambertin are among the lightest of the Gevrey Grand Crus; but they can, and should, be beautifully perfumed; exquisitely floral at their best, with peony aromas in among the cherries."

A hard-to-find vineyard.

John Gilman, View from the Cellar

The 2018 Griotte-Chambertin from Domaine Lignier is really a beautiful example of the vintage this year, and one can see how precise the wine has come about from it being picked at the outset of the vintage. The celestial bouquet wafts from the glass in blaze of red fruit, with notes of cherries, blood orange, grilled meats, chalky soil tones, very pretty spice tones, coffee and a touch of spicy oak. On the palate the wine is pure, full-bodied, ripe and tangy, with a lovely core of fruit, excellent complexity and grip, fine-grained tannins and a long, vibrant and very promising finish. Just a lovely example of Griotte. (Drink between 2032-2085). 94 Points

Bichot Latricieres

Albert Bichot Latricieres-Chambertin Grand Cru 2020

Normally $745.00

Special $633.00

2 bottles available

Tim Atkin MW

Bichot harvests these purchased grapes whose vines are planted in clay and limestone soils. The nose starts with tangy red fruits layered with potpourri nuances. Excellent acidic tension and drizzle soft tannins give this simultaneously delicate and powerful Grand Cru instant allure. 2023-40. 96 Points

Sarah Marsh MW "The Burgundy Briefing"

Expressive, warm but cool, raspberry-ripe aroma. Quite a lot of oak showing and some lifted notes. It mixes a hint of the exotic with herbal tarragon notes. It’s racy and intense and has a well-sustained silky-powdery finish. 2026–35. 95-96 Points

And one for Rhone lovers...

Solitude Constanza label new

Chateauneuf-du-Pape Cuvee Cornelia Constanza 2018

Normally $191.95

Special $162.95

5 bottles available

Joe Czerwinski, Wine Advocate

From century-old Grenache in a section of la Crau with safre-based soils, the 2018 Chateauneuf du Pape Cornelia Constanza was matured in concrete (60%) and foudre (40%). Explosive notes of black cherries and licorice mark the nose, while the full-bodied palate is ripe and welcoming without going over the top. You'll want to watch the serving temperature carefully so it doesn't get too warm, but the tannins are supple and silky. Dense and concentrated, this is serious stuff, with awesome length on the slightly chocolaty, spice-inflected finish. I wouldn't bet on it aging more than a decade, but as an early-drinking mouthful of decadence, it's tough to beat. Drink 2020 - 2030. 96 Points

Jeb Dunnuck

The 2018 Châteauneuf Du Pape Cornelia Constanza is all Grenache and comes from a sandy parcel in the heart of the La Crau lieu-dit. This Grenache lover’s dream sports a medium ruby color as well as a gorgeous nose of kirsch liqueur, herbes de Provence, licorice, loamy soil, and assorted spices. With medium to full-bodied richness, seamless texture, and a great finish. Drink this pleasure bent beauty anytime over the coming 10 to 15 years. 95 Points
