Good Afternoon Trevor,

It's week 18, and I'd have more time to write a newsletter if I wasn't chasing turkeys all over the place. This is a photo of the heritage turkeys earlier today. At the edge of my patio.

Each morning starts out with trying to trick them into staying close to home. We scatter corn at day-break in their field. They peck at it for a while as I sneak out over the fence and out of site. They like to follow me, so I have to be stealthy.

Then usually within the hour they are thinking of crossing the road, or visiting the house, or visiting the girls in the bakery. Being they can fly right over the fence, they are near impossible to contain. And if 1 goes, they all go.

Around here, Thanksgiving can't come soon enough.

Speaking of Thanksgiving, we have announced our offerings and the order form is live. Since Sunday, the heritage birds are over half sold out already so please place your reservation soon.

As for this week's share, it is week 18 of 22. The leaves are starting to change and within two weeks we expect a frost. Our winter season starts right after summer season ends. Please register today and eat well all winter.

  • Pie of the Week. Concord grape pie with double crust.
  • Thanksgiving. Place your pre-order to guarantee a tasty Thanksgiving.
  • Whoopie Pies - Sold out fast last week. We had many emails asking for more, so these are for you! We start with a maple meringue folded into a cream cheese frosting, stuffed between two chocolate wafers. Yum!
  • Rigatoni and Meatballs - we haven't offered meatballs in a while, so this week we make a batch and paired them with some shredded Mozz, tomato sauce, and rigatoni for an easy dinner bundle. Just $25.

Enjoy

Trevor

BEACHWOOD 10/03

LOCATION CHANGE

This Thursday is Rosh Hashanah. Our usual location has requested that we find a new pickup location for this week due to the holiday.

We are currently working with the City of Beachwood and the Mayor's Office to get approval to use a city lot. Our request and insurance certificates have been passed to the legal department for formalities. We expect an answer later today.

We will send a separate email to the Beachwood members alerting them to the change in location.

The location change is only temporary for this week only.

Maple-Mallow Whoopie Pies

Chef Jeff and I are always trying to break the ice in the kitchen with the Amish girls. They are very quiet and serious. Somehow recently we were teasing them that we were going to make them more "English," which is the term for people not Amish

So we said we can make Amish foods...like the signature Whoopie Pie. So Jeff and I started brainstorming on how to kick it up a notch.

We started with a chocolate cake wafer. We then worked on the filling. A maple meringue was made first and stabilized with a bit of gelatin to keep it fluffy. We then took our A2 cream cheese and whipped that with a butter and powdered sugar for a cream cheese frosting, then folded the meringue in to fluff it up. Enjoy these while you can!

Concord Grape Pie

This week's pie flavor is the Concord Grape Pie. We start with whole grapes, simmer them down with sugar, strain out the seeds and skins, and make a delicious filling buried beneath a double crust.

Zucchini Bread. We have some late season zucchini and switched it up this week for one last run of the $5 Zucchini Bread.
