TRAFFIC IMPACT AND DURATION: From Monday, September 9, through Friday, September 13, Interstate 89 (I-89) will be reduced to a single lane in both directions near Exit 17 during off-peak hours: 6 a.m. to 3 p.m. on I-89 northbound and 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. on I-89 southbound.
The I-89 northbound off-ramp slip lane for turning right onto U.S. Route 2 (U.S. 2) westbound will be temporarily closed for bridge construction until the winter shutdown. Motorists can turn right or left onto U.S. 2 at the signalized intersection of the I-89 northbound off-ramp and U.S. 2.
There will be alternating one-way traffic controlled by flaggers on weekdays between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. on U.S. Route 7 (U.S. 7) between the Shell Gas Station and Wiley Road and on Wednesday, September 11, between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m., on U.S. 2 between the bridge over I-89 and Jasper Mine Road. Utility work may require intermittent single-lane closures with alternating one-way traffic on U.S. 2 throughout the week.
Delays on U.S. 7 and U.S. 2 are expected; motorists are advised to plan additional travel time. Motorists should slow down, use caution, and pay attention to road signage and line striping while traveling through the work zone.
