CPRC Recognizes Board Officers

At the August 28 Board of Delegates meeting, Chair Brett Gantt recognized both past Chair Butch Lawter and past Secretary/Treasurer Wilma Laney for their service to the Board.

Johnston County Commissioner Butch Lawter served as an officer for Central Pines for the past 3 years and has also served on the Board previously for the Town of Clayton. We have appreciated his leadership as Chair the past year and his support of the CPRC staff.

Aberdeen Town Council Member Wilma Laney has served as the CPRC Secretary/Treasurer for the past two years. For as long as Aberdeen has been a member of CPRC, Delegate Laney has serve either as a delegate or alternate. We are grateful for her dedication to the Board and to the organization.

The Central Pines Regional Council Board of Delegates Officers for FY 2024-2025 are:

  • Chair: Brett Gantt, Town of Apex
  • 1st Vice Chair: Randee Haven O'Donnell, Town of Carrboro
  • 2nd Vice Chair: Susan Evans, Wake County
  • Secretary/Treasurer: Byron McAllister, Town of Selma

We are grateful for the service of these officers and look forward to working with the new officers in the coming year!

Central Pines Shout Out!

TDM Awards

Congratulations to two of our Transportation Demand Management (TDM) Diversity, Equity, & Inclusion (DEI) Partners who recently received awards at the recent TDM conference in Denver! This conference is held by the Association of Commuter Transportation (ACT), which is the leading TDM organization in the country. These awards are very competitive, so it's quite the honor for them to be recognized! Those partners are Black Girls Do Bike, Raleigh Durham: Outstanding DEI Award and Arise Collective: Commuting Options-Ridesharing. Great work!

NADO Impact Award

Central Pines was recently selected as one of the recipients of the National Association of Development Organizations (NADO) Impact Award! The annual Aliceann Wohlbruck NADO Impact Awards celebrate NADO members' efforts in advancing regional planning, economic development, resilience, and more. CPRC was awarded for our Managers Support Group.

Central Pines Regional Council is contracting with Wake Forest Baptist Health for two behavioral health professionals to convene a confidential manager-only support group. The group meets once a month and serves as an opportunity for managers within the region to share personal or professional issues that they are dealing with. The group received support from each other and from professional behavioral health specialists from Wake Forest Baptist Health.

We are proud to be able to offer this for our region's managers! For any managers who are interested in being a part of this support group, please contact Lee Worsley (lworsley@centralpinesnc.gov).
