The mission of Read for the Record Day is to highlight the importance of building early literacy and language skills for every child so that all children have the opportunity to enter kindergarten prepared to succeed.
The event encourages students and teachers all over the country to read the same book on the same day. This year's national book selection was "Piper Chen Sings," which was read to students by guest readers, including Superintendent Burke!
