Multifamily residential development activity has accelerated in Euless with the start of vertical construction of the 371-unit Watercolor Urban Lofts. The development, located on Pilot Hill Drive, is the multifamily component of the larger 65-acre Watercolor mixed-use planned development. When complete, Watercolor will feature approximately 141 villas and row homes; 201 townhomes; retail and restaurants; a lake with boardwalk; trails connecting with the existing trail network; and a hotel site. The hotel site was the subject of a recent site plan approval for a proposed 108 guest room Atwell Suites Hotel. One multifamily development is in the permitting process. Westdale Apartments, planned for a location on W. Pipeline Road, will consist of 129 multifamily units.
Retail and restaurant development remain strong as evidenced by the recent openings of The Iced Whisk, Juicy Dumplings, The Peach Cobbler Factory, Tifa Chocolate and Gelato, and Cold Beers & Cheeseburgers in Glade Parks. At least two additional restaurants in Glade Parks are planned. Other restaurant openings in Euless include Raising Cane’s second Euless location.

Retail construction currently underway includes HTeaO, Kwality Ice Cream Parlor, Cambria Hotel, and OES Equipment. Retail development in the pipeline includes a 108-guest room Atwell Suites Hotel (site plan approved), a 114-guest room Holiday Inn Express (construction plans approved), and H-E-B Grocery’s 123,000 square foot retail store (site plan approved) at Rio Grande Boulevard and Cheek-Sparger Road. The new H-E-B location will include a fueling station, car wash, pharmacy, and feature a True Texas BBQ restaurant.

HURST THRIVES: NEW BUSINESSES & COMMUNITY WINS | |
During the third quarter of 2024, the City of Hurst saw exciting developments in economic growth and community projects. Thirteen new businesses opened, including law firms, restaurants, health spas, barber shops, childcare facilities, and healthcare and counseling services, adding valuable diversity to Hurst’s business landscape.
Notably, The Picklr, an indoor pickleball chain, began renovations on a 30,000-square-foot space next to Abuelo’s, with plans to open in November. Additionally, Hurst’s Italianni’s won the Fort Worth Star-Telegram Readers’ Choice award for best Italian food in Tarrant County.
|
The Hurst Conference Center continued to bolster the local economy, generating a gross profit of $601,436 for the quarter. Beyond commerce, Hurst has been invited to participate in the Wings Across America project, led by artist Andrea Holmes. This large mural series will start off with 10 Texas murals. Hurst will be second on the west facing wall of Café Medi. This partnership with the building owner will add art, color and culture to eastbound travelers of Mid-Cities Blvd. and Grapevine Hwy. We are hopeful that this central location with high visibility will increase foot traffic and maximize community engagement.
| |
August saw the beginning of a community-focused venture between the City of Hurst, HEBISD and 6 Stones to renovate a former donut shop at 420 W. Pipeline Rd. into a non-chain coffee shop. The importance of this is that many employees will be from HEBISD’s MARC (Moving into Adult Roles and Communities) program. This project has now expanded to the Practicum Program where students in the Architectural and Interior Design Program are helping to create this vision.
