Salvation doesn’t just rescue us from sin; it transforms us into something

new. This week, the focus is on what we are saved to: a new creation in Christ. In 2

Corinthians 5:17, Paul declares that anyone who is in Christ is a new creation; the old

has gone, the new has come. This transformation means we are no longer defined by

our past sins, but by the new identity we have in Christ. We are saved to live in

holiness, righteousness, and with a heart transformed by God. We are saved into a

relationship with God, to live as His children, filled with His Spirit and destined for

eternal life.

Trevor Miller, Family Pastor, will be preaching in the Auditorium for the Contemporary Worship services; Stephen Fitch, Evangelism and Outreach Pastor, will be preaching in the Sanctuary for the Traditional Worship services.

For those worshiping remotely, you're invited to watch our services online, on Facebook and YouTube.

Wednesday Night Classes

We are excited for you to have a chance to grow and mature this fall through the classes we are offering on Wednesday nights. We kick off our next set of classes on October 9. There will be a Pastor's Study focused on the second half of the book of Hebrews, as well as a Marriage and Evangelism class. Register at mthorebchurch.org/adults.

  • Pastors’ Study: 2nd Half of Hebrews in the Sanctuary

  • Relational Evangelism: Led by Janis Albergotti and Stephen Fitch in Room 552 This class will equip everyday Christians to share the gospel in today’s skeptical world and help as many people as possible hear the good news about Jesus. Together, we will explore the gospel message and the hope that it offers to the world, learn strategies and practices, including cultural perspectives, for how to share the gospel with others, and discover different methods of approach and presentation to winsomely present a gospel that magnifies the lordship and love of Christ.

  • The Meaning of Marriage by Timothy & Kathy Keller: Led by Trevor Miller and Jessica Coates in the Fellowship Hall. Modern culture would have you believe that everyone has a soul mate; that romance is the most important part of a successful marriage; that marriage does not mean 'til death do us part, but merely for as long as my needs are being met; and that when serious differences arise, divorce is the best solution. According to the Bible, all of these modern-day assumptions miss what marriage is all about. In this six-session video-based Bible study (guide sold separately), Timothy Keller, along with Kathy, his wife of forty years, draws a profound portrait of marriage from the pages of Scripture that neither idealizes nor rejects the institution but points us back to the relationship between God and man. The result is a vision for marriage that is refreshingly frank and unsentimental, yet hopeful and beautiful.

Photos Needed for Celebration

As January approaches, we are planning some exciting things for Pastor Jeff’s retirement party. One of the things we are looking for are pictures from the “Old Days.” Please bring any photos you may have of Pastor Jeff and Lynn that we could use in celebration of the years he has been at Mt. Horeb. If you drop them off in the church office, we will scan them and get them back to you. Thank you in advance. We know many of you have some great pictures!
