NOURISHING OUR COMMUNITY THIS THANKSGIVING

At this year’s Carver Center Thanksgiving Distribution, the spirit of generosity truly embraced the Port Chester community. The event was generously supported by the Steven & Alexandra Cohen Foundation, led by Alex Cohen.

Carver Center was able to provide 800 households with an abundance of holiday meals and trimmings, ensuring their celebrations were filled with joy.

We are grateful to our many volunteers who helped us create a Thanksgiving marked by warmth and the true spirit of community. Thank you for making a difference!

MEET TONY NIEVECELA

Tony’s journey as a Carver Kid has been one of growth, fun, and invaluable support. Starting in early daycare programs, he found a nurturing environment that his parents relied on while they worked. As he grew, afterschool programs ignited his curiosity, swim lessons instilled confidence and perseverance, and Camp Carver became a summer highlight from elementary through middle school.

Now a regular at the teen center, Tony has a place to explore his passions and build leadership skills. With the guidance of our dedicated Teen Center staff, he successfully navigated the college application and financial aid process, and has already been accepted to SUNY New Paltz, Mercy University, Dominican University, Siena College, and Fairleigh Dickinson University.

Carver Center’s unwavering support has shaped his path, helping Tony become a confident, well-rounded young adult.

I was able to become the person who I am today."

EVERY CHILD DESERVES TO BE WARM THIS WINTER

We are thankful for our valued partnership with Children's Hope Chest. Thanks to their annual coat drive, we proudly distributed 200 warm coats to children in our community this winter.

Families enjoyed a festive selection of holiday treats, while children delighted in a variety of fun activities, all made possible by the dedication and care of an incredible group of volunteers.

Thank you for helping us keep our local children warm and bringing joy to our community this season!

LIFE AS AN IONA GAEL!

Members of the Teen Center recently visited Iona University, where they had the opportunity to explore campus life and learn more about higher education options. During their visit, they met with students and faculty, toured academic and recreational facilities, and gained valuable insights into the college experience. The trip provided an inspiring glimpse of future possibilities and encouraged them to think about their own educational goals.

COMMUNITY PARTNER: HEALTHFIRST

We are deeply grateful to our partner, HealthFirst, and their dedicated representative, Virgen Peralta, for their invaluable support to our community.

Virgen regularly tables at our Carver Market to offer guidance on health insurance options and essential resources geared towards our clients' needs. She also joined us at our Thanksgiving distribution last week!
