School Closings & Delays

As winter approaches, Bishop Chatard would like to remind parents of our process for delaying or closing school, along with our e-learning policies and procedures.

In the event of a school closing or delay, Bishop Chatard will communicate with families through the following ways:

• Local TV stations: Channel 4 (CBS), Channel 6 (ABC), Channel 8 (CW), Channel 13 (NBC) and Channel 59 (FOX)
• Posted on our website in Announcements and the school calendar
• On the main BCHS school social media accounts: Facebook, X and Instagram
• Via text, phone and email message*

For two-hour delays or cancellations, our goal is to notify parents and families by 6:00 am. If there is a decision to delay, we will continue to monitor the condition of our surrounding roads.

In the event of a cancellation, Bishop Chatard High School’s campus will be closed during school hours, and we conduct school as an e-learning day. Students and parents can access our e-learning day procedures and policies here. 

Please know that the safety of our students and staff is our top priority when deciding to delay or cancel school.

Veterans Day Mass - November 11



Please join Bishop Chatard High School on Monday, November 11, as we honor those who have served our nation at our annual Veterans Day Mass. Mass will feature a full Color Guard detail with words from veteran and BCHS teacher Jeff Getty.

• Doors open at 9:15 am with Mass beginning at 9:30 am
• Parking - attendees can park on Crittenden Avenue on the east side and enter via Door #1, the main lobby entrance
• Mass will be followed by a short reception in the cafeteria

Are you or a loved one a veteran or active-duty service member? We’d love to recognize you or your loved one at this special event. The BCHS Fall Play - Leaving Iowa, is a comedic and heartwarming play centered around family, nostalgia, and the American tradition of the road trip. Tickets are available now! There are also opportunities to support our cast and theatre program by purchasing ovations or becoming a playbill sponsor or patron.

Ignite 2024 - REGISTRATION NOW OPEN

Ignite is a one-day event at Roncalli High School, open to all teens from the Archdiocese of Indianapolis and the Diocese of Lafayette. Featuring keynote speakers, live music, Mass, and more, it offers teens a meaningful opportunity to experience Christ’s love and deepen their personal faith. Jr. Girls Athletics

VOLLEYBALL Registration for Jr. Trojans Volleyball open gym and tryouts will open soon! These are for current 6th-8th grade girls. BASKETBALL DEVELOPMENTAL LEAGUE Register by November 1 for our Jr. Trojans Girls Basketball Developmental Program. This program is for 3rd-8th grade girls who want to improve their basketball skills. BCHS Varsity Head Coach Dan Wagner and former JV Head Coach Ana Adams will be leading training sessions on Sunday evenings from November 17 to January 26. Cost is $50 per player.
