Partners in Stewardship

As part of our ongoing stewardship and outreach efforts regarding the invasive hemlock woolly adelgid (HWA), LGLC staff participated as co-leaders in a forest health workshop at YMCA Camp Chingachgook in September. The day-long workshop taught participants about invasive pest identification and management options to keep forests healthy and thriving into the future.

Organized by the Soil and Water Conservation Districts of Warren and Washington Counties, the training provided practical, hands-on training for landowners and professionals in the forestry industry.

Click here to learn more about how you can help with HWA, including future training dates and other information.

The LGLC also worked with the Warren County Soil and Water Conservation District to install erosion control materials on Padanarum Road in Bolton Landing. This section of road runs through Amy's Park and is prone to damage from heavy rain storms and water runoff. The work done will prevent future erosion and creates a more sustainable solution to the increasing frequency and size of storms.

Amy's Race Success

Our thanks and congratulations to the 87 athletes who joined us for the 8th Annual Amy’s Race on October 5! This year we introduced a new 10-mile course option, and Shaun Donegan set the course record with a time of 1:21:40.5! Meanwhile, many athletes kept the tradition alive by competing in the classic 4.5-mile course.

A special thank you to the Next Gen Committee for all their work throughout the year, as well as the volunteers and generous sponsors who played a crucial role in the day’s success. The race raised over $10,000 to support the Bolton Recreation Hub and continue its vision of building sustainable trailways and promoting land conservation in Bolton.
