Can't attend Worship in person? Join us on YouTube LIVE!
Our lives are very busy, filled with tasks and activities almost every day. In this busyness, it is very easy for us to become so caught up in our lives that we do not see others around us. We can also be concerned about reaching out to people whom we do notice having needs to be addressed because we do not wish to interfer in the personal business. We may even avoid taking notice of others and their needs because we do not wish to be inconvenienced.
Whatever our excuse for not noticing others, Jesus has something to say about this behavior. In the story which Jesus tells about a Samaritan man providing for the needs of a Jewish person who was robbed along the roadside, Jesus makes it clear that we are expected to make our resources and ourselves available to meet the needs of others. He teaches the crowd about the proper response of those who would follow him. He even gives understanding to the word "neighbor." Then he tells those who are listening to "go and do likewise."
Consider what Jesus shares as recorded in Luke 10 as you prepare to come this Sunday to worship the Lord. We will explore Jesus's words a bit more in the midst of our worship.
Blessings,
Pastor Mark

APCE is COMING to TOWN in 2025...
AND VOLUNTEERS ARE NEEDED!
| |
The annual conference of APCE, the Association of Partners in Christian Education, will be held at the Peabody Hotel in downtown Memphis in 2025. APCE is an organization of people across the country interested in or working in Christian Education as Sunday School teachers or specialists. Their annual conference usually has 400 to 500 people registered. They will be at the Peabody from January 28 to February 1, 2025, and the Local Committee for this conference is chaired by Stephanie Patton, Lucy Cummings and KC Warren.
The Local Committee needs volunteers to greet the participants, offer directions, decorate tables (decorations provided), and do other light tasks that will make the conference run smoothly.
We are asking you to consider offering 4 hours of your time for a shift at the conference - or more shifts if your schedule will allow.
If you prefer to volunteer with a friend, both of you should sign up in the next few weeks while most shifts are available. That way, you and your friend can ride together - and maybe shop or have a meal before or after your shift! There is parking right at the Peabody, and those who register early will be offered parking vouchers to cover the cost.
So in advance, thank you for giving 4 hours or more of your time to this wonderful event!
Please sign up at the link below. We will be in touch in a couple of months regarding parking information and other details that will be helpful.

WANT to ATTEND the EVENT???
The APCE Annual Event is the conference to attend if you serve in educational ministry in any capacity.
There are two ways to experience APCE’s 2025 Annual Event…
- In person at the Peabody Hotel in Memphis, Tennessee, January 29 – February 1 with 60+ workshops and a variety of Pre-Event and Post-Event opportunities and time to renew connections with long-time colleagues and connect with new.
- Annual Event Online which includes all the worship and plenary sessions and your choice of four (of 14) hybrid workshops. Select components of Annual Event Online will be interpreted in Spanish.
Registration and APCE conference information can be found here:

Hurricane Helene makes landfall, putting multiple presbyteries and Montreat at risk | As Hurricane Helene hurtled toward Florida and neighboring states, Presbyterian Disaster Assistance and others in the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) were monitoring the storm and calling for prayers amid predictions of catastrophic storm surge.
Panelists decry divisive rhetoric against refugees and other newcomers | Despite rhetoric to the contrary, there are many people making positive contributions to their communities after migrating to this country, and churches can do more to serve as allies.
