NEW! AUDITIONS! INHERIT THE WIND

Director: Leslie Anne Ross

Production Manager: Don Richardson

Audition Dates:

Thursday, November 21, 2024 from 7 pm to 9:30 pm.

Saturday, November 23, 2024 from 9 am to 1 pm.

This is the play that has its genesis in the events of the famous Scopes trial. One of the most outstanding dramas of our time.

Book by Jerome Lawrence and Robert E. Lee. This production is by special arrangement with Dramatists Play Service.

Brief Synopsis: Based on the famous Scopes Monkey Trial of 1925, in which a Tennessee schoolteacher was charged with violating state law by teaching about Darwin’s theory of evolution, INHERIT THE WIND fictionalizes the story in order to make a broader dramatic point about people having the freedom to think for themselves. The key courtroom conflict between Matthew Harrison Brady (representing 3-time Presidential candidate William Jennings Bryan) and Henry Drummond (representing famed attorney Clarence Darrow) is one of the most famous scenes in American drama.

Roles: There are 21 roles to portray various adult ages, plus two roles to portray ages 12 -13.

Auditioning for all roles is open to the public. All roles are as volunteers with no monetary compensation.

“A masterpiece. This is the test: to see a play once, twice, three times. And each time to leave the theatre as deeply moved, as enlightened, as lifted up, as magnificently entertained. And as convinced that it is one of the truly great American dramas of this century.” —Scripps-Howard.
