We are thrilled to share the latest happenings through this edition of our City newsletter! As the crisp autumn air approaches, we invite you to join us for our beloved Trick-or-Treat on October 27 from 3PM - 5PM, when our streets will come alive with the joyful laughter of children in costumes.


Also, we encourage you to participate in our survey regarding the downtown pocket park statue, as your insights will help us narrow down the final decision.

Downtown Pocket Park Survey:


Which sculpture do you feel would be the best fit at the downtown pocket park? (The sculpture will go on the stone pedestal) The Redevelopment Authority Subcommittee received feedback from the public at Mill Street Festival on four general themes (Nature, Cheese Capital, Hub City, or Family) The preferred theme was Nature! Please take this 1 minute survey and provide your thoughts on the sculpture design.

Nutt Hill Open House

October 10, 4:30 PM - 6:00 PM

Plymouth Art Center


A group of Plymouth residents have been working on a plan to revitalize Nutt Hill. Their plan is to make significant improvements to the infrastructure, facilities, and property to support tubing, skiing, and snowboarding. They intend to operate Nutt Hill as a non-profit organization and raise capital funds to support snowmaking, grooming, building improvements, land modifications, and installation of a magic carpet tube lift.


Attend the open house to learn more about their vision to revitalize Nutt Hill and provide affordable, winter recreational activities that facilitate skill development, healthy lifestyle, and improve life experiences for present and future generations of residents throughout East Central Wisconsin.

Fire Prevention Week


Fire Prevention week is October 6-12, 2024. Join the Plymouth Fire Department on Friday, October 11 for their open house. Use the checklist below to make sure your smoke alarms are up to date.

New Building Inspector and Hours

Starting October 1 Brian Witkowski will be the new Building Inspector. The new office hours will be:


Monday 8:30 AM - 1:30 PM

Tuesday 8:30 AM - 1:30 PM

Thursday 8:30 AM - 1:30 PM

Friday 8:30 AM - Noon

Utilities Updates:

Electric Rate Increase


Plymouth Utilities has filed an application with the Public Service Commission of Wisconsin (PSC) to increase electric rates. The utilities is requesting the adjustment to cover inflationary increase in operational and maintenance expenses and costs associated with maintaining the reliability of the electric distribution system. The last electric rate increase was approved in May 2015. Utilities is requesting an overall increase of 7.98%. The final impact of the rate increase upon individual customers will not be known until the PSC completes its review and issues an order. More inforamtion will be provided in your electric bill.

Waste Water Treatment Plant Digester Cover


As part of the 2024 Capital Improvement Plan, money was allocated to replace a failed digester roof at the Waste Water Treatment Plant. The old digester cover was removed in September 2024. Project completion is dependent on delivery and weather.

Police Updates:

Meet the K-9s

The City of Plymouth Police Department have two K-9s, Frey and Tyr. The K-9 Units at the Plymouth Police Department are "Dual Purpose." This means they are trained in a variety of tasks to include narcotics detection, tracking, evidence search, area searches, building searches, handler protection, and criminal apprehension.

Frey

K-9 Frey is a German Shepherd Dog and was born March 2021 in Pietenfeld, Germany. He was brought the US through Steinig Tal Kennels. He then attended an intensive four week training with his handler, Lt. John Primising.

Tyr

K-9 Tyr is a Belgian Malinois and was born in April 2019 in the Czech Republic. He was imported to the US through Jessiffany K-9 Services LLC. Tyr works with Officer Dylan Lindsley.

For ages 11-18. Play on their Nintendo Switch, bring your own, or try one of their games. No registration required.

For grades K-12. Stop by for a free Science in a Bag STEM kit, courtesy of the Wisconsin Science Festival.


The Great Pumpkin Pageant of 2024

Memory Cafe: Halloween

October 25 - Plymouth Public Library


Join a themed gathering for people living with memory loss and for their families, friends, or care partners. Registration recommended.


Monster Mash Movie Bash

October 30 - Plymouth Public Library


For ages 11-18. Join everyone at the library after school for viewing of Five Nights at Freddy's. Costumes or Halloween gear encouraged.

Park Restrooms


Park Restrooms will be closed for the season by October 21 weather dependent. The public bathroom by Stayer park remains open all year.

Leaf Pick-Up


The leaf collectors haven't kicked off their collection spree just yet, please resist the urge to dump your leafy pals on the curb. Yard waste can be taken to the City Garage Drop-off area, 1006 Valley Rd. Watch the City's Website and Facebook page for updates mid-October.

Natural Gas Lines


WPS continues to upgrade its natural gas system in and around downtown Plymouth. The project includes replacing a natural gas main and service lines along Mill Street from Caroline to east of North St. WPS expects to finish installing the new natural gas lines by the end of October. This newsletter will provide updates if the project schedule changes.
