From Exploited to Empowered

Aloha artists,

Since my relocation to the beautiful islands of Hawai'i, I've been exploring my lived experience of Capitalism (new blog!). My economic journey has been bumpy, to put it gently. I've spent a lot of time blaming the systems that failed me. That has put me in good company.

The artist's experience of capitalism is often marked by tension between creativity and commerce. On one hand, the system offers opportunities for exposure and financial reward; on the other, it can impose pressures to prioritize market trends over artistic integrity.

Many artists navigate precarious labor, work gig to gig, or rely on platforms that commodify their work. In this environment, artists may struggle to reconcile the pursuit of personal expression with the need for economic survival.

I'm finally settling into another way to approach Capitalism by re-writing My Story of Capitalism.

When you've experienced exploitation or lack, it's easy to feel trapped. But it's possible to own that experience, re-frame it, and brand it as your own.

Join me next Saturday, 10/26 at 6pm in NYC

for a workshop on how to navigate the

Artist's Story of Capitalism.

Cheers,

-Emileena
