People sometimes say they are not sure who to reach out to for different things at TBZ. With Rav Leah joining our team, this is a great opportunity to remind everyone Who’s Who at TBZ. We hope this guide can be helpful:
As Senior Rabbi, Rav Claudia's focus is on all religious and spiritual matters of TBZ, including services, pastoral care, and life-cycle events. Rav Claudia provides leadership for the overall growth and success of TBZ, and oversees the work of Rav Tiferet and Rav Leah. She represents TBZ in the larger Jewish, interfaith, and Boston communities. To make an appointment with Rav Claudia, please reach out to Rochelle Kelman.
Our Rabbi, Congregational Learning & Programming is Rav Tiferet. Her role focuses on the planning and execution of all of TBZ's programming. Reach out to Rav Tiferet regarding planning and participating in programming, including Beit Rabban, adult education classes, and events. Rav Tiferet shares learning and programming opportunities in the weekly Happenings email, in programming booklets that are shared twice a year, and on the website (you can always check the calendar for any details about programming). Rav Tiferet can be reached at ravtiferet@tbzbrookline.org, and you can also schedule a meeting with her directly on her calendar link.
As Assistant Rabbi, Director of Community Engagement, Rav Leah will support Rav Claudia in leading services, pastoral care, and life-cycle events. Rav Leah's main portfolio is community engagement; she will lead our efforts in engaging new and seasoned members, in order to help all members find their place in the community and strengthen TBZ. Rav Leah will be having many conversations, coffees, and chats, helping everyone find and create more meaningful connections within TBZ. Of course, getting started will take some time, especially, as previously announced, Rav Leah will be, God willing, on parent leave from late October through late January. Rav Leah can be reached at ravleah@tbzbrookline.org. Her office will be on the third floor (what is known as the lounge) and her first day in-person in the office will be July 3. We wish her much success!
Rochelle Kelman is the Assistant to Rav Claudia. She manages Rav Claudia's calendar and assists Rav Claudia in all matters of her job and beyond. Rochelle manages the logistics for our two morning minyanim, Boker Tov and Eat, Pray & Learn; for Shabbats and other services; and for life-cycle events, such as b'mitzvah and conversions. You can reach out to Rochelle by emailing her or calling the TBZ office (617-566-8171, ext. 103).
As Office Manager, Sarah Ott answers all inquiries in the TBZ office. With her office at the entrance of TBZ, she will be the first person to welcome you into the building. Please reach out to her if you need any assistance with your ShulCloud account, if you wish to be added to one of our Google Groups, if you have changes to your contact information, or if you have any questions in general. If she can’t answer, she’ll direct you to the right person! You can reach her at sarahott@tbzbrookline.org or 617-566-8171 ext 101.
Benjamin Maron is our Executive Director, overseeing the operations and finances of TBZ. You can reach out to him with questions about your account, room rentals, logistics for your life-cycle events, donations, and anything else that did not clearly fall under another TBZ team member's portfolio. He can be reached at execdirector@tbzbrookline.org or 617-566-8171 ext 103.
Our team also includes a few other wonderful people who you might see around the building: Akiva Nelson (Rabbinic Intern), Noah Weinberg (Musical Prayer Leader), Yoni Battat (Artist-in-Residence), Rafi Ellenson (drums/davening team), Sandi Garcia (Custodian), Maira Samayoa (Kitchen Support), April Ropes (Communications), and all of our Beit Rabban teachers and b'mitzvah tutors.
In case you missed our Spiritual Leadership Update email that was sent at the end of May you can read it here. It includes many more updates.
