If you are looking for new and unique ways to have fun in October, the Skokie Park District offers great one-day events, workshops, outings, special events and more.

Walking Tours: Rise of the Bungalow

Learn how the bungalow design of the early 1900s reflected shifting societal values. Join us for a casual stroll with frequent stops to look at building exteriors around the Lorel Park area. Children must be accompanied by adults.


The tour will last up to two hours. Walking tours will take place in a light rain. In the event of severe weather, an indoor equivalent will be provided at the Skokie Heritage Museum. You have two chances to take this tour!


Ages 5 and up. Children must be accompanied by an adult.

Hobbit Day Celebration at Emily Oaks Nature Center Rescheduled for tomorrow!

Celebrate Frodo and Bilbo Baggins birthday at Emily Oaks by going on a hike around the trails there and back again. There will be crafts, games, and, of course, a warm campfire with Lembas bread and po-tay-toes.

This house of horrors will scare the wits out of those who dare to enter! With it's chainsaw maniacs and insane clown maze, Scream Scene has been terrifying visitors since 1997. Each haunting season features new characters, sets and scenes, making every new year more frightening than the last!


Parental discretion advised: Not recommended for children under 10 years old!

Since 1972, the Maine-Niles Association of Special Recreation (M-NASR), a Skokie Park District partner, has been proud to serve the children, teens and adults with disabilities in Skokie and other communities. M-NASR is currently undertaking a strategic planning initiative to solicit ideas, suggestions and feedback to improve future program and service delivery. Your input is critical in this initiative. Visit Saturday's 'Raise the Barn' Fall Fest fundraiser

Stop by our affiliate and neighbor, The Talking Farm, as they throw their "Raise the Barn" fall fest tomorrow, with music, food, drinks and more. Click here for all info!!


The event pays homage to the community celebrations that come together after "raising up a barn." Celebrate the close of the growing season and help TTF raise money to continue to build and support their valuable operations, including living wages for staff, seed costs, repairs, maintenance and other expenses for the growing farm.
