Palm Beach County’s Department of Housing and Economic Development (HED) announces the availability of HOME Investments Partnership First-Time Homebuyer Program funds. Palm Beach County Community Services Department, through its Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) is partnering with HVAC companies to replace outdated, inefficient, or non-functioning HVAC systems for eligible homeowners, at little or no cost. The LIHEAP Program will cover up to $15,000 for the replacement and installation of central HVAC or Window/Wall Reverse Cycle units.

This online tool was created to connect individuals seeking food resources to sites near them. Information is in English, Spanish, and Creole. United Way updates the information listed on this map weekly. However, locations and hours of distribution may change. Animal Care and Control Critically Over Capacity
Currently, incoming pets are greatly outnumbering the amount of pets being adopted, rescued or fostered. As an example, last month, on a daily average, the shelter released 18 pets to new homes or rescues while 30 pets arrived at the shelter. This is far beyond the capacity for the quality of care PBCACC aims to provide for the homeless pets of Palm Beach County.

From United Way of PBC: Every September, there is an annual nationwide campaign designed to inspire people to take action and raise awareness of hunger in the United States. Despite its wealth, more than 173,000 residents in Palm Beach County struggle with hunger. 50,890 of these residents are children who do not have enough to eat on a daily basis. United Way of Palm Beach County and our 100+ partners work year-round to identify needs, coordinate efforts, and build infrastructure so that everyone can have access to healthy foods.

Call to Artists & Organizations: AIMBY/Family Saturdays
The Cultural Council is seeking cultural organizations and/or teaching artists across all disciplines to deliver the content for the monthly Family Saturdays program. Partners will be paid a $600 stipend (inclusive of supplies). Partners will also have the opportunity to build new audiences and create relationships in those communities. There will be 10 sessions scheduled from October 2024 through July 2025. The deadline to apply is September 2, 2024.
WHEN: Saturday, Oct 19, Nov 16, Dec 21, 2024 and Jan 18, Feb 15, March 15, April 19, May 17, June 21, July 19, 2025 | 10:00 a.m. - 11:30 a.m.

PBSO National Night Out at Pahokee Marina
Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office will be hosting its National Night Out event at the Pahokee Marina on Oct. 24. In an effort to make this event a great success, we are asking dedicated organizations that provide services to the Glades residents to host a community resource table. This will be a great opportunity for families to learn about the valuable services available in the Glades as we are hoping to draw individuals of all ages.
