One Community One Family

Dear Christ the King Catholic School Community,

Yesterday, we acknowledged Saint Jude’s feast day at morning prayer/assembly and have continued to honor Mary our Holy Mother during her amazing month of the Holy Rosary. As we look out toward this week we see fun-filled events from student leadership and room parents, pertaining to Halloween festivities, that will culminate into a spirit rally. In addition, our traditional Halloween Parade is legacy-driven, and full of spirit. Furthermore, a very special and inspirational mass led by Father Paulson, celebrated with Father Brandon Macadaeg, and our first and fourth graders will surround All Saints Day.

A special thank you to the Balestrieri family for an awesome Halloween movie night at their beautiful farm last Friday evening. The spirit and energy from our community was awesome as was Amber and Kevin’s hospitality, generosity, and kindness. In addition, a special thank you to Father Paulson, Megan Symonds, Nelson Gonzales, the Piccolo family, Jodie Russi, Janay Mora, Jeanne Bucci, Brenden Cline, Chris Branch, Heidi Nuti, Demi Marquez, our 8th graders, and Chris Lang for an spiritual/inspirational/joyful 8th grade retreat last week. The loving example of the Piccolo family and their amazing Melo’s restaurant provided the most delicious meal at this retreat. The Piccolo family’s generosity, kindness, and intentionality was so amazing as they prepared and provided lunch as a gift to our 8th graders!

The Scholastic Book Fair commences this Friday through Thursday and is such a great event! A special thank you to the creative and senior leaders of such an event whereby literacy is a huge strength of our school programming: Jaffe Leffler, Heidi Nuti, Marife Woods, Tina Lucas, Michele Gilliam, Lara Mahlik, Colleen Shively, and Amber Balestrieri. Such a great event with a strong legacy, and an imprint on our student’s bright educational futures.

Daylight savings time and Veteran’s day are just around the corner. Also, we’ll enter the wonderful November month of gratitude. We have a special week planned, during the month of November, that surrounds Christ as our King – and the light of Advent will soon begin to shine. Let us enter this holy season with the gentle and wise words of Saint Blessed Mother Teresa, “Joy is prayer; joy is strength, joy is love. God loves a cheerful giver. The best way we can show our gratitude to God and His people is to accept everything with joy.”

God bless you all as the joy of our One Community One Family continues to shine beautifully and light our way,

Joseph M. Silveira Ed.D.

Here at CTK, the safety and well-being of our students is always of the utmost priority and concern. However, CTK cannot assume responsibility for the conduct, safety, or supervision of its students when participating in events that occur off school property.

Prayers

Dear Heavenly Father, Our lives are getting busy, but please help us to remember to slow down and say thank you. You fill each of our days with wonder and joy, it is easy to take it all for granted. We thank you for all the blessings given to us. Please hear the intentions we have in our hearts for our CTK community.

We pray for Shiloh Davis's (7th Grade) grandmother, Loreen Kiskila who has gone to Heaven.

If you have special intentions please email Mrs. Meran here so we can include them in our next newsletter.

Help for the Hurricanes

Jesus calls us to help those who aren't as fortunate as us and the ones affected by the hurricanes. The 8th grade project this year is to raise money and awareness for people affected by the two Hurricanes. Hurricane Helene and Hurricane Milton which affected states in the south. Our goal is 500 dollars and if we achieve this the whole school will receive a free dress day. We can accomplish this by having everyone bringing 2 dollars. Whichever class raises the most money will get a popsicle party. We can't wait to help the hurricane victims. With your help we know we can achieve our goal.

Let's go CTK.

Halloween Guidelines

Halloween is coming up soon! We will be celebrating with the annual Halloween parade after the morning assembly on Thursday, October 31st. Parents are invited to stay and watch! As students prepare their costumes, please review the guidelines below:

Halloween Costume Guidelines

  • Costumes that depict alcohol, drugs, violence, or violent characters are not permitted. Fake weapons are not allowed.
  • Costumes that could be offensive or perpetuate a stereotype of someone’s culture or heritage are not permitted.
  • Costumes should not hinder students’ ability to participate in classes, including PE.
  • School rules regarding dress code must be followed: No short skirts/shorts, no bare midriffs, no bare shoulders, or low necklines.
  • Students or parents who have questions about the acceptability of their costumes should check with their homeroom teacher prior to wearing the costumes to school.
  • Students wearing inappropriate costumes will need to call home to have a change of clothes brought to them.

Thank you all for supporting appropriate, distraction-free learning environments for students by adhering to these guidelines. We’re looking forward to all the fun Halloween festivities!

Christmas Program

CHRISTMAS IS COMING!

Your awesome children and I are so excited to be preparing our 2024 Christmas Program, “Simple Gifts.” The program will premier for an open dress rehearsal on Tuesday, December 10th at 1:00 PM. Our main performance will be Thursday December 12 at 7:00pm. Doors open at 6:30pm. Space is limited at the main performance, and we suggest Grandparents and other loved ones consider attending the Tuesday dress rehearsal instead, where seating is plentiful.

Click here to see a detailed description about what your child needs to wear for the program.

Please, no photos, videos or phones during the program. Cameras and phones distract the children and other audience members, and people moving about during the program cause others to miss out. New this year, there will be two photo backdrop areas outside and in front of the church before and after the program. This will be your opportunity to commemorate the occasion with as many photos and videos of your child as you wish! In addition, we will have our program live-streamed and it will be available live (for those who are unable to attend) as well as after the program. Password information will be provided closer to the program dates.

I am thrilled to be creating this program with the students as we bring joy, give kids a sense of agency, and celebrate Jesus!

Love, Mrs. H.

Book Fair

Brighten futures: 3 ways to share your blessings

The book fair provides a great opportunity to teach kids about giving. Please

support the community by donating.

1. Classrooms

Buy a book from your teacher’s basket, and your child can add a name sticker inside. Or please donate to your teacher’s eWallet so they can order books for the classroom.

Kindergarten (Ms. Hernandez)

1st Grade (Ms. Pastor)

2nd Grade (Mrs. Urbina)

4th Grade (Ms. Batista)

5th Grade (Mrs. Kemmerer)

2. CTK Students-in-Need

Help kids get a book when they need a little extra support. Please add funds to the CTK Student in Need eWallet.

3. Gift Reading to Children in Underserved Communities

In the spirit of giving, we are partnering with the East Bay Children’s Book Project to distribute donated books to kids with little or no access to books.

Encouraging reading isn't enough if kids don’t have books. Please look for the "East Bay Children’s Book Project“ area for needed books. Have your little one ask a parent volunteer for help - if needed.

Questions? Text Marife Woods at 925-876-7855 or email marifeenriquez@gmail.com.

Thanks for your generosity!

Quick Reminders:

• Before the fair, set up an eWallet for each child to shop in-person/online. Ask friends & family to

gift the magic of reading through eWallet. Leftover funds over $10 can be saved for future fairs.

• The fair accepts cash, credit cards, eWallet AND Apple Pay.

• We need bags of Oreo cookies! People ask how they can help. Please bring Oreos to the fair.
