District 2 Town Halls

On Monday, June 10, at 6 p.m. District 2 Neighborhood Councils will be presenting to City Council how they have made an impact this past year. Everyone is welcome to attend and cheer on their fellow councils. More information can be found on the Neighborhood Calendar.

Beautification Project

Neighborhood Beautification Project : This year, neighborhood councils have access to additional funding that can be used toward volunteer-led clean-up events. Funding covers costs for disposal and supplies, like garbage bags, paint rollers, etc. More information and the application can be found here. (Up to $1,000 per neighborhood total can be spread across multiple projects.) 

Spokane Neighborhood Summit Call for Presenters

The Spokane Neighborhood Summit is back and workshop presenters are needed! This will be a fun day of connection and learning for neighborhood leaders. If you have are interested in presenting at the Summit on Saturday, Nov. 2, see the 2024 Call for Workshop Proposals handout.

Indian Trail Traffic Study Results The first part of the Indian Trail traffic study is complete. Engineers will present the results from the study as well as suggested solutions at a special meeting on Tuesday, June 25, from 5 to 6 p.m. at Salk Middle School, 6411 N. Alberta St. in the library.

ALERT Spokane

During emergencies and disasters, it's crucial for residents to informed about evolving situations. Sign up for ALERT Spokane to receive public alert and warning messages that are disseminated throughout the greater Spokane area. In the event of an evacuation, refer to the Spokane Regional Emergency Communications map

Outdoor summer activities are in full force!  

  • The 50-year anniversary celebration of Expo ‘74 continues through July 5. Activities include the Echoes of Expo audio storytelling experience, a Community Stage and Vendor Village days on June 1, 8, 15, and 22, and Silent Disco also on June 22. Plus, enjoy all of the Riverfront Park attractions like the Skate Ribbon, Carrousel, Skyride, Skate Park, Lightshow at the Pavilion on weekends, and more. Come and check it out!  
  • Spokane Transit Authority Board of Directors voted to reduce fares to 50 cents for the downtown shuttle 11 throughout the Expo celebrations through July 4 and fares for the entire bus system will be free on weekends. 
  • 2024 Summer concerts at Riverfront Park’s Pavilion are on sale.

  • Splash pads and the rotary fountain in Riverfront Park are open and Spokane's six aquatic centers are scheduled to open Monday, June 17. Click here for more information.
  • Did you know that the Spokane Library has adult and youth summer reading programs? If you read for 15 days each month from June to August you can enter to win great prizes like hot yoga, Garland movie tickets, rock climbing passes, coffee cards, and more! Other free events like chess and anime club, yoga, dance, writing classes also take place at the library. And, Discover Passes, sports equipment, like pickleball, badminton, croquet sets, and lawn games can be checked out (up to one or two weeks, check library locations for details).

Summer Parkways 2024 will take place on Tuesday, June 18, from 6 to 9 p.m. Every year Spokane streets around the Manito and Comstock neighborhoods close to vehicular traffic and open the streets to bikes, pedestrians, skaters. All ages and abilities may enter and exit the 4-mile car-free course at any point and enjoy activities like yoga, Zumba, hula hoops, gymnastics, dancing, Pilates, jump rope, and more. 

Explore eco-conscious planting with SpokaneScape. A colorful low-water way to landscape your property; protect natural resources and the environment; and reduce yard maintenance. City of Spokane customers can earn up to $500 credit on their utility bill by removing lawn and replacing with water wise plants and mulch. 

Pacific Avenue Greenway Survey

The Planning Department’s Pacific Avenue Greenway Alignment Study has identified three alignment options for the greenway, from which a preferred alternative will be chosen. A survey to help us choose the best option is available through June 30. This phase of the project is in the East Central neighborhood, specifically within the South University District, but the entire project including Phase I, which is planned and funded, is meant to connect cyclists and pedestrians moving between downtown and the University District up to Perry Street.

Complete the application form and to submit it the Mayor’s office at mayor@spokanecity.org. Prefer to print and mail your application? No problem.
