2024 HOMECOMING

CSU officials have lauded the successful celebration of the 2024 Homecoming Oct. 9-12, during which the 1890 Land-Grant Programs were well-represented.

Young entrepreneurs (in the photo) were at their goodies table, enticing many Homecoming attendees with sweet teeth that passed by. These youth participated in CSU summer camps and learned about agriculture and local food systems. They were able to test their marketing skills during Homecoming.

Members of the Central State University chapter of MANRRS (Minorities in Agriculture, Natural Resources, and Related Sciences) participated in the Homecoming parade. MANRRS-CSU was chartered in January 2024. The faculty advisor is Susan Speight, Ph.D., assistant professor of agricultural and life sciences.

The EFNEP (Expanded Food and Nutrition Education Program) featured interactive demonstrations during Homecoming to promote healthy eating. The event provided opportunities to discuss how nutritious food can be easy and quick to prepare.  Visiting alumnae join CSU Extension's Sha'Chanda Webster-Davis (third from left in the photo), administrative program assistant, in making their do-it-yourself fresh salad.

The CSU Health Education Mobile Unit (HEMU) is used throughout Ohio to bring health education and awareness to communities. The HEMU provides access to health screening in urban and rural areas for those who struggle with access to health services. During Homecoming, attendees received free screenings for blood pressure and cholesterol. The CSU team included (left to right in the photo) CSU Extension's Price Collier and Lindsay Andrews, Health and Psychological Services Executive Director Dr. Karen Mathews, CSU Extension's Dr. Joseph Frank, volunteer nurse Ibura Kiipe Ogini, and CSU Extension's James Keys.
