Every season goes faster. It's hard to believe this is the last week of our 15th Summer Season.


Every year seems to get better. We've never had a year with so much fruit as this year. The peaches, blueberries, and blackberries were abundant. And even this week, our farmers continue to deliver new and exciting apple varieties, such as the Ludacrisp, Crunch a Bunch, and Pink Lady.


And on the farms, the drought had little impact on the produce farmers. They can irrigate, watering the plants they want and not the weeds. The impact of the drought was most felt by livestock farmers - dairymen and ranchers in particular - who rely on rain for lush pasture and good yields on their row crops. There is no perfect year in farming. Just different years.


Thank you from myself, the Fresh Fork staff, and all the farmers for your support this season.


For those joining us for the winter, we'll see you next week. For all others, we hope to see you again next summer, or during the holidays with any of our special offerings such as Thanksgiving turkeys or Christmas hams.

Halloween Time Changes

Halloween is this Thursday and so is Trick or Treat in many communities.


Your spooky little ones are welcome to come scare our staff as well!


The only stops impacted this week are: Thursday, 2 stops

Westlake - time reduced to 3 to 6 PM.

Mayfield - time reduced to 7 to 7:45 PM.


All other stops are as regularly scheduled.


If you can't make your regularly scheduled pick-up location, please feel free to visit any of our other locations. The only time you need to notify us is if you have a special order. You CAN change your special order pick up location during the checkout process.

Pork Carnitas

We start with putting our pasture raised pork. We cube up the shoulder, put it in a "cure" of salt, fresh herbs, and spices, then cook it confit in pork lard with plenty of fresh thyme and lemon. The pork is then shredded by hand and packed with a little extra lard for pan frying to reheat. Served with all the perfect accoutrements for tacos.


- Flour tortilla shells (6 in, 12 ct)

- 1 quart pork carnitas meat (cooked & ready to serve)

- 1 pint reheating liquid

- 1 head lettuce

- 1# Fresh tomatoes

Chicken Pot Pies - Ready to Eat

We have a limited number of pot pies available again this week. These were very popular last week and sold out quickly.


We ran out of large pie shells before the filling, so we made a few "personal size" small pot pies.


Each pot pie starts with our signature pie crust of whole wheat flour, butter, and lard. We like extra crust, so there is a bottom crust.


Each pot pie is filled with a hearty filling of our pasture raised chicken, green beans, carrots, onion, and celery, all in a dressing made from homemade chicken stock.

Fall Flavors Abound

The farm bakery went overboard this week with fall flavors, including:


Double Crust Apple Pie. A hefty apple pie loaded with a mix of apples, lightly spiced, and medium sweet!


Pumpkin Bread. $6 This bread starts with roasting whole pumpkins, scooping out the flesh, and making a delicious quick bread that our neighbors (country distance) can literally smell.

And back in the correct form this week....


A few weeks back we started making the S'Mores cookies. I'm not the best at instructions. I guess I forgot it's been a few years and no one remembered that they were a sandwich cookie.


Long story short, some how everything got mixed together and baked off into a mess. It didn't work...


But this week, we got it right. A graham cracker cookie with chocolate ganache and homemade marshmallow filling.


S'Mores Sandwich Cookies. 4 per pack, $7.50.


New Apple Varieties -


Ludacrisp. A new variety with an awesome name! It's super crunchy, juicy, and sweet with a hint of lemon. This is a spectacular apple and I'm hoping it gains traction.


Evercrisp. The follow up to Honeycrisp - but crunchier and store longer.


Pink Lady. This is a perennial favorite, sweet and tart with a very floral nose to it.

We have fun over the winter with projects like our farm-made quiches, pepperoni rolls, ratatouille, soups and more.
