Hi Friends,
It is with GREAT pleasure that I get to announce my US tour for By Any Other Name! In a lot of ways, this feels like the first tour since Covid that is full-out – I’ll be all over the US for a month’s time, worrying about how to make sure I have clean underwear last that long. I cannot even begin to tell you how excited I am to share this story with you, and to introduce you to Emilia – the real-life, historical star of the new novel – who has been waiting for a moment of recognition for 400+ years. Please please please come out in person to say hello. There is nothing I like more than meeting my readers…and getting to share with you firsthand why I am so excited to launch this novel.
A few preemptive answers to your questions:
Why are you not in Colorado/Ohio/my backyard? I already do more extensive touring than most authors – thanks to my generous publisher. Obviously I can’t go everywhere – and the bookstores that present the best potential events are the ones that get to host me. If I’m not in your hometown this year, go to your local indie and start bugging them NOW to pull together a great proposal for my next tour!
Why do I have to pay for a ticket? The ticket – which is usually just the cost of the actual book or a dollar more - gets you a signed book, a photo with me taken by a professional photographer, and a night out that I promise will be entertaining. The bookstores that host me usually have to rent a larger space to accommodate the crowd, and the ticket makes sure that they are the ones who will get the book sale, rather than a box store or online retailer. Honestly, it’s only fair, since they’re doing the work.
Will you be signing other books? Likely not. (Don’t kill me!) These are big crowds, and we made the decision to give people a meet-and-greet moment and a photo as a souvenir, plus a signed book (remember when I signed 33,000 tip-ins to be bound into the books? Ta da.) If you take a look at my schedule, you’ll see that I literally am in a different city every day, and have early flights to get to the NEXT city. In the hopes that I can drag my 57-year-old body across the entirety of the US, we just won’t have the time to accommodate a long line of backlist signatures.
Can I bring my whole book club? Hell yes. The more the merrier. And we can do a group photo you can use as your holiday card. 😀
Why should I go? Because you didn’t get tickets to the Eras tour? Because I’m gonna introduce you to a real-life historical Tortured Poet? Because you want to see what cute clothes I squeezed into my suitcase? Because I’m actually a lot funnier in person than my books might suggest? All of the above.
I really, really cannot wait to see you all this summer. Events and links for tickets below!
XO,
Jodi
