A Word from the Pastor

In last week’s newsletter article, I mentioned the various upcoming opportunities to celebrate as a church. That was the case this past weekend with our confirmands.

On Sunday, we witnessed the ways the Lord has moved in the lives of our confirmation class. We saw them answer the church’s historic questions of faith as they made the decision to turn from their sin and toward Christ in faith. They were anointed and blessed by loved ones. Some were baptized as a sign of the new life they have been given in Christ. Others remembered their baptism and God’s claim upon their life. It was an amazing Sunday. How grateful we are for the Spirit’s work in each of their lives.

This Sunday, we will turn our attention to our mothers and the women that have loved us like mothers. We will celebrate the gift that mothers are to us and the vital role they play in shaping the people we become. John Wesley, the founder of the Methodist movement, credited his mother, Susanna, as being the most influential person in his life. She discipled John in the teachings and way of Jesus.

I know we all have our own stories to tell of the women that the Lord has worked through to make us who and what we are. Join us on Sunday as we give God thanks and bless them.

Our world, our country, our community leaders, all our military troops and first responders around the world, our church, our pastors, the staff, church members, visitors, and Midlothian community

I want to thank my church friends for their prayers, calls, emails and support during my illness. I especially appreciated the entertaining hospital visit from Pastor April and the sweet prayer before she left. Thank you to Kathy Berg and Cheryl Wheadon for their nice visit and lovely prayer too. I love the cute, cheerful pillow that they gave me. It was made by the “Healing Stitches” ladies of our church. I have really enjoyed that. Who knew we had such talented , entertaining ladies in our church? And lastly, thank you, Joy, for sending out the prayer request. I firmly believe that prayer WORKS.

BLESSINGS,

Martha Black
