Aloha, our beloved parish 'ohana, | |
Love one another. That is the command Jesus gave to all of his disciples. We are to love one another as He loves us. This past Tuesday, St. Columba’s held its first sit-down Community Meal. All the hard work of getting the new kitchen in place to feed the community was worth everything. The command of Christ to “Love one another” was prevalent with every volunteer and guest that came to the meal. It was so beautiful as laughter, chatter, keiki giggling and music, brought St. Columba’s to life. This was Christianity in action. This is what Christ meant to Love one another. Everyone was part of the ‘ohana. There was no stranger being fed that night, only family.

This is the mission of St. James'/St. Columba’s/and Beach Mass. We are to bring that Love to everyone that steps into our realm. We are the church not the building. The building helps us be the church, not the other way around. We needed this renovation that incorporated a new kitchen and keiki building to help the church be the church. We now must bring others into the Church, into the Love that brings us together into one family, one ‘ohana. There is no judgment in Love, only inclusivity. We as a church, disciples/followers of Christ are commanded to bring others into this amazing family; to feel this Love and to abide with Jesus. There is nothing on this earth more rewarding than to bring Christ into another’s heart.
St. Columba’s will have another community meal on May 14th and every 2nd Tuesday thereafter. St. James' has one every Thursday and Beach Mass supports the meals with their prayers, volunteering, and treasure. We all work together as one ‘ohana supporting each other in the mission we are honored to be a part.
Alleluia to all who put their time, talent, and treasure into Christ’s mission of bringing souls into the most amazing Love that transcends the universe.
As Fr. David says, “Go forth for God!”
Amen,

Community Meal at St. Columba’s is BACK!
Tuesday April 30th from 4:30 to 6PM, was the first sit-down Community Meal at St. Columba's. We will begin slowly with a monthly meal until our volunteer base gets built up again. Sponsored by our own Sharon Alfonso-Cariaga, she was also the head chef for the meal of 'ono' comfort food - Shoyu Chicken, rice, corn and delicious homemade cookies. We are so excited to get the ministry started and the Love of Christ shared. For additional information or to volunteer, please contact Sharon via the Parish Office.

Curiously, it was not until the end that Philip saw for himself what had been before him all along, and to whom he had led so many along the way. If we do not yet see it, that’s okay. Philip didn’t for the longest time. He can be our companion and friend as we say with him, “Lord, show us the Father”.
