Saturday, June 1 - Gavin Bird

.....As a popular muralist in Jackson, much of Gavin Bird's work can be considered "street art." His latest work can be seen on North State Street on the wall of Roots Remedy (4300 North State Street.)

.....You'll be able to see Gavin's work on June 1, 9 a.m. - noon, at the park on Old Canton Road between Quiznos and Fondren FroYo. And, he'll have normal-sized work that you can purchase.

.....Born into a creative family, Gavin has been drawing for as long as he can remember. His dad, an illustrator, started Gavin in art lessons as soon as he could pick up a pencil.

.....Gavin considers making art therapeutic. "If I find myself not producing artwork, I start to get really antsy," he said. "It's something I feel the need to do, that I have to do, and also something that I really enjoy."

Saturday, June 8 - Rebecca Graham

.....Rebecca began painting in 2014 to provide an older friend some companionship and encouragement. She had a busy career in technology at the time, but committed to paint when not working, taking workshops from some wonderful artists.

.....She returned to Mississippi, her birthplace, in 2021 to help with needs of family, friends and community. Having lived and worked abroad, she said it was a privilege to be back in the South.

.....Rebecca became a member of The Gaddis Group in 2022. The Gaddis Group is comprised of watercolor painters who share a studio and come together to create artwork, share knowledge and provide each other constructive critiques. "Hopefully by God’s grace and mercy I can bring a little joy to others with the art work that comes from painting," she says.

.....You can watch Rebecca paint and view her art from 9 a.m. - noon on June 8 at the Street Art Pop Up on Old Canton Road, between Quiznos and Fondren FroYo

The Pearl Tiki Bar brings a taste of Polynesia to Fondren as the only Tiki Bar in Jackson.

The Fall Guy: at The Capri through May 22

.....He’s a stuntman, and like everyone in the stunt community, he gets blown up, shot, crashed, thrown through windows and dropped from the highest of heights, all for our entertainment. And now, fresh off an almost career-ending accident, this working-class hero has to track down a missing movie star, solve a conspiracy and try to win back the love of his life while still doing his day job. What could possibly go right?
