Big Bounce & Slide Festival Back at Fairgrounds | Come out August 2nd, 3rd and 4th for a weekend of inflatable fun and more at the Cumming Fairgrounds! Bounce House Atlanta presents the 3rd Annual Big Bounce & Slide Festival, featuring more than 80 inflatables, carnival rides, obstacle courses, bounce houses, rock climbing walls, foam pits, food trucks, games, face painting, character photo ops, and more! Hours are noon to 9 p.m. on Friday, 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. for everyone and adults only from 9 p.m. to midnight on Saturday, and 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Sunday. | |
Rodeo Returns Labor Day Weekend |
The IPRA World Championship Rodeo returns to the Cumming Fairgrounds' Covered Arena on Labor Day weekend. This annual tradition kicks off on Friday, August 30th at 8 p.m. and continues at 8 p.m. on Saturday, August 31st, and at 7 p.m. on Sunday, September 1st. Each night's show lasts approximately two and a half hours and features bull riding, bareback riding, barrel racing, cowgirl breakaway roping, calf roping, steer wrestling, team roping, and saddle bronc riding. There's also plenty of family-friendly comedy from the rodeo clowns. Purchase tickets here or tickets can be purchased at the gates, which open two hours before showtime each night.

Cumming Aquatic Center Offers New Senior Event & More in August | |
The Cumming Aquatic Center (CAC) will offer the following events and activities in August:

Homeschool Day at the Outdoor Leisure Pool - Thursday, August 6th, 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Admission: $7 for youth and seniors, and $8 for adults; concession stand will be open (no outside food or drinks allowed).

NEW EVENT! The CAC will offer a new Senior Social at the Outdoor Leisure Pool on Thursday, August 8th from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. It's a potluck party, so seniors are invited to bring a dish to share (but no glass containers on the pool deck, please); free admission and no RSVP required.

Dog Days Registration Now Open - Dog Days at the CAC will be September 7th, 8th and 14th. Large dog sessions (45 pounds and up) are September 7th from 1-2 p.m., and 3:30-4:30 p.m.; September 8th from 1-2 p.m., 2:15-3:15 p.m., and 3:30-4:30 p.m.; and September 14th from 1-2 p.m. Small dog sessions (less than 45 pounds) are September 7th from 2:15-3:15 p.m.; and September 14th from 2:15-3:15 p.m. Proof of current vaccinations (vaccine records required; tags are not acceptable proof) is mandatory for every dog. Registration for Fall Recreation Programs Opens August 19th | |
Registration for City of Cumming Recreation & Parks Fall Programs begins on Monday, August 19th! City of Cumming Recreation will offer a wide range of activities for children and adults, including dance, art, and fitness classes at 437 Pilgrim Mill Road. Additionally, gymnastics, self defense (Hapkido), youth basketball league, as well as Open Gym times for basketball, pickleball, and volleyball will be available at the Dobbs Creek Recreation Center, 1115 Dahlonega Hwy. Mayor & City Council July Meetings Recap |
During their Regular Meeting on July 16th (the July 2nd Work Session was canceled), City Council took the following actions:
- Approved an alcohol license for Santa Maria, a new restaurant opening at the Cumming City Center.
- Approved an intergovernmental agreement with Forsyth County for the division of Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax IX (SPLOST), if the continuation of the tax is approved by voters. Under this agreement, the county would have received 92.09% and the city would have received 7.91% of the tax revenue.
- City Council also held a called meeting on July 22nd to again discuss the intergovernmental agreement with Forsyth County regarding Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax IX (SPLOST). During this meeting, council voted 4-0, with Councilman Chad Crane absent, to accept a revised agreement from the county, in which the county will receive 93.78% and the city will receive 6.22% from the continuation of the one-percent sales tax, if approved by voters.
- Approved the low proposal from Adams Equipment Company for purchase of a vacuum truck for Cumming Utilities.
- Approved the low proposal from Environmental Products Group for purchase of a street sweeper for Cumming Utilities.
- Approved purchase of the replacement of the Big Creek Waste Water Pumping Station from sole bidder, Xylem-ITT Flygt Pumps.

SAA Arts Center August Events | |
The Sawnee Association of the Arts presents its Annual Summer in the City Art Show through August 24th at the Cumming Arts Center, 111 Pilgrim Mill Road. This signature exhibit is open Wednesday-Saturday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. each day. It is a juried and professionally judged art show with one award still open: the People's Choice Award. Come in to see more than 150 artworks by 50 local and SAA member artists. Exhibits include paintings (in all media), photography, quilting, fiber arts, wood-turning, jewelry, and more.
Call for Entries: The SAA's next exhibit titled "Elements" is now accepting entries from both SAA member and non-member artists. The show opens August 28th, with a public reception to meet the artists on August 31st from 3-5 p.m. Submissions will be accepted through August 23rd.

Holiday Closure: Labor Day | |
All non-essential City of Cumming facilities and departments will be closed in observance of Labor Day on Monday, September 2nd.
All city facilities will return to normal hours of operation on Tuesday, September 3rd.
