May 6, 2024 Interactive Question | With the Tri-Presbytery conversations shifting from "merger" to "collaboration" conversations, the Leadership Commission has made it clear that Winnebago Presbytery will continue on in its current structure. While we are looking forward to collaborative opportunities with our neighbors, we also want to hear about what your favorite aspects of Winnebago Presbytery currently are. |
Which of the following aspects of Winnebago Presbytery do you feel should be most celebrated?
Returning from Board of Pensions Consultation - Re: Changes to Medical Benefits Plans
Dave Colby and Katie Estes (chair of COM) traveled to Denver, CO for a consultation with the Board of Pensions about the upcoming structural changes they unveiled recently. Prepared with questions and concerns submitted by members of the presbytery, Dave and Katie were able to gain additional insight into how this different structure may affect churches and pastors throughout our presbytery.
With big change comes confusion, legitimate concerns, questions, and some unknowns. We encourage you to direct any of these questions and/or concerns to Dave (dave@winnebagopresbytery.org) and he will be able to provide you with more information regarding the upcoming plan changes.

With significant financial assistance from the Synod, First Presbyterian Church - Green Bay is making an effort to provide coach bus transportation from our presbytery to Synod School in Storm Lake Iowa this summer. Depending upon the number of riders and their location, FPC will arrange for local pick up and get you and all your stuff from here to there and back again. Costs would be shared among riders and are expected to be very reasonable -- but this can’t happen without your commitment! Please contact Katie Estes at First Presbyterian in Green Bay (kestes@firstpresgreenbay.org) to indicate your interest by June 1st.

John Knox Presbytery Bidding Farewell to Brick & Mortar Office, Supplies, & Furniture |
John Knox Presbytery has had an office in Richland Center, WI since 1987; it was a home for meetings, records, and staff throughout the years. As they first trialed hybrid gatherings, and then forced into online only by the pandemic, reality became clear -- that a brick and mortar office was more a luxury than a need. When JKP joined with Winnebago to employ Miranda Halsey as a joint administrator, their Council seized the opportunity to lean into cost-savings and acted to officially close the office in Richland Center. With that, their office supplies and furniture are up for grabs!
Can your church, or a local non-profit you support, use these items as well? And if not your church or someone you know, if there is an organization in your town who will accept these items and re-use them?

Spotlighting Congregations: Wild Rose Presbyterian Church Lenten Tuna Tower
We hope to highlight images from congregations within the presbytery for the next 4 newsletters - This is your congregation's opportunity to shine! Please, send us any images you would like shared with our mailing list and we will put you in the spotlight.
Inspired by the fish banks and Gracie the Fish stories in the One Great Hour of Sharing materials, congregants at Wild Rose Presbyterian Church bring canned tuna for the local food pantry during Lent. They began doing this several years ago because there is no local component in the OGHS offering. The tuna cans stack up under the offering plates, as the congregation knows it is tending the needs of local families as well as those wherever its OGHS monies are used.
This year, as they promote the Pentecost Offering, they’ll also be thinking of our county food pantry, with a challenge to bring red food or food in red packages. Beets, anyone?
For more than 2 decades, Wild Rose Presbyterian Church has been a 4/4 congregation, supporting all four of our denominational offerings as well as local mission such as the food pantry.

In the realm of mental health treatment, acknowledging and addressing the spiritual dimension is becoming increasingly recognized as integral to holistic well-being. At Samaritan, we understand that spirituality plays a profound role in many people’s lives, influencing their values, beliefs, and coping mechanisms.
