The final month of the school year is upon us! With many students involved in activities after school and on weekends, it can be a very busy time of year. The weather is warmer, the sun is out longer, and many students are excited for the summer holiday to begin. There are many activities at school this last month, and I encourage you to review the calendar below. I hope that you will be able to take part in them!
ERB Standardized Tests for Grades 3-5 Begin Monday
Columbus Academy’s third-, fourth- and fifth-graders will be taking the ERB CTP-5 Standardized Test next week (May 6-10). All testing will be completed on iPads. The purpose of the ERB CTP-5 is to assess student growth and performance at the time of testing. This enables us to identify strengths and areas needing attention at an individual and group level. CTP is considered a “low stakes” assessment intended to help faculty and administrators make decisions about curriculum and classroom instruction. Because of this, there is no test preparation material available. It is very important that your children are in school each day the week of May 6-10. Each grade level will decide on their testing schedule, but tests will be given both in the morning and afternoon. Please do not schedule any non-emergency medical or dental appointments during the school day during this entire week.
School Supply Kits for 2024-25
Please visit our storefront at this link. Kits will be packaged and sent directly to the school prior to the start of the 2024-25 school year. Promotional pricing and free shipping ends on June 16. Of course, you are welcome to purchase school supplies elsewhere using these LS Supply Lists. If you have any questions, please contact Michelle Saling.
Celebration of Accomplishments
This celebratory event will be held on Tuesday, May 28. The signup from homeroom teachers was sent home on Wednesday. This is a time for you to meet with classroom teachers to hear from your children their perspectives on their various accomplishments and growth throughout the school year. This is a time to celebrate and reflect on all the wonderful achievements that they have made. There will be no school for students on May 28. Please note that it is not possible to make up this conference, and it will only be offered on May 28.

Rising Grade-Level Meetings for Parents & Guardians
Rising Grade-Level Meetings for parents and guardians finish next week. Parents and guardians can learn about the programs for their children in the grades they will be enrolled in next year. These will be on the fireside of our dining hall. Each grade level will have two homeroom teachers share details about the year ahead and highlights and expectations. There will also be time for questions. Slideshows of each grade level presentation will be shared in our next parent letter on May 17.
