TAG2024 HIGHLIGHTS

The TABCOM Annual Gathering this year was nothing short of extraordinary, filled with moments of inspiration and renewal as we embarked on our journey with the theme "Renewed Paths, Redeemed Purpose," drawing from Isaiah 43:19.

From the moment we arrived, there was an undeniable sense of anticipation in the air, and as the event unfolded, it exceeded all expectations.

Workshops tailored to every attendee's needs provided invaluable insights and tools for personal and collective growth. Whether delving into theological discussions, exploring innovative approaches to community outreach, or nurturing the spiritual development of our youth, each session was a beacon of enlightenment, guiding us towards a deeper understanding of our faith and purpose.

We owe a debt of gratitude to the Concord Baptist Church led by Revs. Conley and Moreen Hughes and their staff, for their gracious hospitality as hosts of this memorable event. Their warmth and generosity created a welcoming atmosphere where connections were forged, friendships were strengthened, and hearts were uplifted.

Additionally, we thank our Keynote Speaker, Rev. Travis Norvil, as well as our facilitators, Rev. Mary Day Miller, Rev. Leroy Mahoney, Rev. Ron Bouthillette, Rev. Diane Badger, Rev. Margaret Hess, Rev. Mercy González-Barnes, Rev. Danielle Gantt and all of you that chose to gather with us this year.

Together, we embraced the opportunity to walk renewed paths, fueled by a redeemed purpose, and emerged from the gathering with a renewed sense of conviction and unity.

Below is a short clip of what we experienced over the weekend. Geoffrey Hicks and Deacon Tia Daly just broke out in song. Hallelujah...what a time!

A NEW LIFE FOR HILL MEMORIAL

"The Hill Memorial Baptist Church and site were purchased by the Allston-Brighton Community Development Corporation (ABCDC) in 2023 with plans to preserve the church and build much-needed affordable, age-restricted housing in the area surrounding the church. ABCDC’s Executive Director John Woods said: “By working together with some amazing partners, we are expecting to fill a pivotal gap in the continuum of affordable housing by creating more opportunities for folks to age in place in the community that they call home.”

Little Dresses for Africa

We spoke in October about making additional pillowcase dresses to be sent to Africa. We have contacted the pastor of the Shalom Missionary Baptist Church in Melrose, and he is going to the Ivory Coast in the next few months. He said he would be able to take the dresses with him to the children in the villages he will be visiting and he said they always look forward to the dresses he brings to them. He can take approximately 40 dresses. We now have 15 dresses, size Medium, and if some of you would like to make additional dresses, that would be wonderful.
