The League of Chicago Theatres is excited to announce the return of the Broadway In Chicago Emerging Theatre & Backstage Champion Awards at our 2024 Spotlight Gala.

The Emerging Theatre Award was created to highlight young theatres in Chicago that have demonstrated artistic excellence. Applications for theatres are now open and can be submitted HERE. The deadline to submit is September 6, 2024.

The Backstage Champion Award recognizes an individual within the Chicago theatre industry who has made a positive impact on our community and is not traditionally recognized. Nominations for this award are being accepted and can be submitted HERE.

Submit your show for the 5th Annual Tickets for a 20 promotion with Hot Tix! This special promo will run Thursday, August 29 to Sunday, September 8 and will feature $20 tickets to fall shows in advance. This promotion is for shows occurring August 29 - October 31. The deadline to submit your shows for Tickets for a 20 is August 21. Contact tickets@chicagoplays.com with any questions about this promotion." Fill out our Hot Tix form here.

We are now accepting submissions for SEPTEMBER shows/performance dates for Youth Night at the Theatre! Submissions for September are due by August 23.

As part of Youth Night at the Theatre, select shows and performances will offer a free ticket for a child (18 years and under) with the purchase of one adult ticket. Tickets are purchased directly through the theatre using the promo code LOCTYOUTH, set up as a Buy One, Get One Free ticket promotion. 

If your show is already listed for August and you would like to list new dates for September, please email September dates to hayley@chicagoplays.com. You do not need to resubmit the form. 

The League of Chicago Theatres Member Directory will be printed each Fall Theatre Guide. Please review this DRAFT and verify that your organization name, mailing address, phone, and website is accurate. Our deadline is end of day Monday, August 19th. Los Angeles based artist Alison Saar’s sculpture work, entitled To Sit A While, features a figure of Hansberry surrounded by five bronze chairs, each representing a different aspect of her life and work.
