Pioneering Social Justice Media Since 1968

Hello JT,

We are sad to announce the passing of filmmaker, media educator, and activist Simin Farkhondeh. TWN was priviledged to distribute two of her works: "Who Gives Kisses Freely From Her Lips," an insightful docudrama about temporary marriage in Iran, and "Salt Peanuts," part of TWN's Call to Media Action series.

We have news about our film "A Litany for Survival: The Life and Work of Audre Lorde" directed by Ada Gay Griffin and Michelle Parkerson. Firstly, the film was screened at the BlackStar Film Festival in Philadelphia to celebrate what would have been the late writer's 90th birthday. We are grateful to the BlackStar Film Festival for showcasing our film and inviting the filmmakers to the festival. And today we ask for your help to nominate this film for the National Film Registry of the Library of Congress. Please nominate "A Litany for Survival" by submitting this form by the August 15th deadline.

In addition, we would like to congratulate filmmakers in our community for their latest wins. Seyi Adebanjo and PJ Raval were awarded the Sundance Documentary Film Fund grant for their respective films. TWN proudly distributes "Against the Grain," "Trans Lives Matter," and "Oya" by Adebanjo and "Stories Within" by Raval. Karla Muthi, TWN Worksop Graduate, premiered her short documentary film "Love, Jamie" as part of the "American Masters" series on PBS. Go to PBS.org to watch this film now. Another graduate, Grace Lee, received the Film Independent Changemaker Award for her substantial impact on the entertainment industry and communities.

Lastly, our Fall 2024 evening seminar series will begin on September 4th with a free, in-person film screening and talk with TWN Workshop graduate Yance Ford at The Documentary Forum in Harlem. RSVP now to watch "Power" and meet Yance Ford!

If you're a Production Workshop graduate, distribution catalog partner or fiscal sponsoree with an upcoming festival screening, premiere, or other great news, do let us know. We want to spotlight you far and wide; your stories deserve amplified attention!

Don't forget to stay connected with us! Follow us on social media for updates on upcoming film screenings, workshops, and news from the TWN community.
