Dear Tracy,
Two weeks ago, a fire broke out in one of our Saranam family apartments on the Eastside of Albuquerque. All of the families are safe and no one was hurt.
Here are the facts:
Two apartments were directly affected by the fire and crews are working to clear and repair them. Inspections done by the firefighters who were on scene found the cause to be undetermined and accidental. No other apartments in the building sustained damage.
Community at work:
Families came together immediately and have steadily supported one another ever since that night. The impact of a support network has never been more clear and powerful.
Thankfully, we had two apartments available in the complex that we could relocate the affected families into. We rallied our volunteers and within a week families were safely tucked back into apartments with groceries in their pantries, sheets on new beds and toys to play with.
Saranam’s community comes together time and time again when we need it, and we are grateful.
Here are some of the astounding ways we have seen the care of our community brought to life recently:
Here is a look into the apartments that were prepared for families.
How you can help:
Thank you for everyone who has helped so far! There are still a few items on our wishlist for the affected families and to replace items we used that had been intended for the ADC Family Campus. You can also provide gift cards and we will get them directly to our families that need them.
Please keep sending your well-wishes and prayers. Our families are steadied by the support that surrounds them. Thank you!
